Week 24 construction progress
With most of the concrete completed downtown, you may have noticed we moved the barricades to allow cars to park downtown. There is no thru-traffic access yet, as the roundabout at Highway 108 west is not completed. Please park with caution. This is still an active work zone with trucks coming and going, and there will be a few times in the upcoming weeks where the section north of the bridge will close again for some of the remaining work. Thanks for being patient.
At the intersection of Highway 59 and Highway 108 west, there are still a few concrete pours to do, including the center circle of the roundabout. Crews ran out of the red earlier in the week, which is a special order color for Pelican Rapids. They'll be completing those sections when the color arrives.
North of Second Avenue, in Stage 2A, underground utilities are done and crews are reshaping the roadway and pouring curb, gutter and sidewalk. Paving is scheduled to take place in about two weeks, weather permitting. To access the northeast side of town you can cross at either Second Avenue NW/NE and Fifth Avenue NE.
On Highway 108 east, in Stage 4A, crews are finishing up underground utilities. They have about another week of utility work to complete, and then they'll begin reshaping the roadway and getting it ready for concrete. If you're trying to get to the post office, please continue to come from the west.
Please DO NOT drive or walk around barriers, ribbons or cones. Your cooperation is important.

Safety & detour reminders
We have detour routes set up for every type of road user. Trucks and thru-traffic should follow the signed routes out of town, city residents and visitors can follow the in-town detour route, and if you are walking, biking or rolling through town, please follow signed pedestrian routes. We know it may be inconvenient at times, and you may need to walk a block or two out of the way to get around, but your cooperation is important for your safety.
Pelican Rapids businesses are OPEN during construction, so follow the various detours to best navigate around the work zone and stop in to support them! To access businesses on the northeast side of town, please use Fifth Avenue NE or 2nd Avenue N (access location may vary depending on where crews are working. If barricades are up, you'll want to go to the other intersection to cross.)
If you don't have a destination in Pelican Rapids and want to avoid backups, we advise using the thru-traffic/truck routes out of town to get to the lakes or other destinations. See the thru-traffic map at top of the email for the thru-traffic route options, depending on your direction of travel.
