D3 - I-94 Gap – Albertville to Monticello: 2024 -2026 construction
Begins 7 p.m. Mon, Sept. 23
Eastbound I-94 will be reduced to two lanes, 24-7, between Wright Co. Rd. 19 and Co. Rd. 137 in Albertville. The closure will occur each week from 7 p.m. Mon, to 5 a.m. Sun, until mid-October (up to four weeks). All three lanes open at peak hours on Sundays.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely work in the median.
Crews continue to prepare the work zone, which includes temporary lane widening and median crossovers. Motorists will encounter periodic lane closures on both directions of I-94 through fall 2024. The lane closures will occur at off-peak hours, mainly overnights between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Major construction will take place spring 2025 to fall 2026. Overall, I-94 will remain open to two lanes, each direction, on one side of the interstate as crews construct the adjacent side.
More about this project
When all six lanes open in fall 2026, the project will provide a smoother ride, extend the life of the interstate, improve freight access, increase capacity and reduce bottle necks, address area growth and improve motorist safety along I-94 Albertville and Monticello.
