Hwy 11 Warroad project update: August 27
What's happening now?
Hwy 11 south of Warroad River bridge:
- Preparation for bituminous trail paving
- Final grading on the east side of the highway
Cedar Ave
- Paving is scheduled to begin on Cedar Ave, August 29 – 30. Project site congestion expected. Motorists are recommended to avoid use of Cedar Ave when possible.
- Concrete sidewalks and ADA curb ramps are being installed

Bituminous removal on west/south side of Hwy 11

Storm sewer structures will continue to be delivered to the project site and will be installed as soon as they are able to.
Minor traffic staging will be completed. It is planned to finish the installation of storm sewer along the west/south side of Hwy 11 by the end of next week, weather permitting
Traffic Impact:
- Truck traffic should continue to use the truck detour
- In town traffic is currently two lanes on half of the roadway
- Motorists should continue to pay attention and use caution in the work zone
The contractor for this $17.5 million dollar project is Spruce Valley. This project will create a safer, longer lasting driving surface as well as improve drainage, pedestrian accessibility, and a safer intersection. It is estimated to be complete by October 2024, and resume in the spring of 2025, weather permitting. Important reminders for motorists regarding work zone safety:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate through with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
