D6 - I-90 Austin bridge replacements: 2024-2026 construction
Ramp closures coming on Wednesday at Hwy 105
If you travel on Interstate 90 at the west end of Austin on Monday, Aug. 26 you will encounter a detour up the exit and down the entrance ramps at the Highway 105/Oakland Avenue bridge overnight as crews pour concrete for the new bridge deck over the highway.
The detour will begin at 8 p.m., Aug. 26 and end by 6 a.m., Aug. 27. Traffic will be slowed through the detour up and down the ramps.
Bigger changes will follow on Wednesday, Aug. 28 when we will close the ramps for construction.
We'll send an update on Monday for the ramp closures and the detour routes.
Thanks for your patience as this project progresses.
 Safety in work zones
Motorists should always be prepared to encounter traffic changes when approaching work zones including lane closures, lane shifts, uneven road surfaces, slow-moving heavy equipment and slow or stopped traffic. To keep everyone safe, drivers must:
-
Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
-
Drive undistracted. Avoid using cell phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating –while in work zones.
-
Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.
-
Know before you go. Get real-time information about traffic and road conditions at www.511mn.org or get the free 511mn smartphone app at Google Play or the App Store.
-
Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
-
Do the zipper merge.
- Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
Please encourage your friends, families, co-workers to sign up for timely updates.
