Stage 4A work will begin soon! You'll start to see workers out on Highway 108 east next week, but the hard closure won't go into effect until after Labor Day.
When Highway 108 east closes on Sept. 3, weather permitting, in-town traffic will be directed to Fourth Street SE and Second Avenue SE.
Crews will begin just east of the roundabout at Highway 59. They'll start with removals up to 2 1/2 Street, and work on the underground utility replacements in this area first.
A reminder that whatever they start on this year, they have to be able to finish, so progress will continue block-by-block in Stage 4A as the weather allows.
As always, access to businesses and residences will be maintained. You'll want to check in with your destination on the best way to get to them. This first section of Stage 4A has some of the deepest utilities on the project, so expect some restrictions for your safety.

Week 19 construction progress
Concrete work has started in Stage 1C, just north of the bridge! Building entrance landings were some of the first things poured, and crews continue with curb and gutter. There's still about a month or so of concrete work to do between the bridge and new roundabout at Highway 108 west. Reminder to pedestrians: Disturbed concrete will have to be removed and re-installed. Please help us keep things moving by being alert and cautious, and never enter an area blocked by tape/ribbon, barriers or cones. Your cooperation is important! Thank you!!
And remember: businesses are open! Business access is being maintained, but please check in with your destination on the best way to get to them — if they have a back entrance, that's likely the best way to get in. To access businesses on the northeast side of town, please use Fifth Avenue NE.
North of Second Avenue, in Stage 2A, crews have hooked up temporary water and have started on utility replacements.
The new railing has been installed on the bridge downtown

Safety & detour reminders
We have detour routes set up for every type of road user. Trucks and thru-traffic should follow the signed routes out of town, city residents and visitors can follow the in-town detour route, and if you are walking, biking or rolling through town, please follow the signed pedestrian routes. We know it may be inconvenient at times, and you may need to walk a block or two out of the way to get around, but your cooperation is important for your safety.
Pelican Rapids businesses are OPEN during construction, so follow the various detours to best navigate around the work zone and stop in to support them! To access businesses on the northeast side of town, please use Fifth Avenue NE.
If you don't have a destination in Pelican Rapids and want to avoid backups, we advise using the thru-traffic/truck routes out of town to get to the lakes or other destinations. See the thru-traffic map at top of the email for the thru-traffic route options, depending on your direction of travel.
