Hwy 11 Warroad project update: August 2

What's happening now?

• Crews finished removing pavement sections on the East side of Hwy 11 south of the Warroad River bridge
• Completed installing storm sewer along the East side as well
• Cedar Ave crews prepped the roadway for curb and gutter and sidewalk
• Curb and gutter completed on Cedar Ave. this week 
• City street light foundations and wiring were installed along Cedar Ave

What's next?

• Crews will prepare the East side of Hwy 11 for gravel and grade for the installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk 
• Cedar Ave will begin the process of preparing for bituminous paving as well as prep work for sidewalk and ramp installation

Traffic Impact:

• Truck traffic should continue to use the truck detour
• In town traffic is currently two lanes on half of the roadway
• Motorists should continue to pay attention and use caution in the work zone
• Please note:

  Transportation of heavy materials traveling between on/off the job site for the upcoming weeks.  Take extra caution and pay attention for trucks entering and leaving the work zone. Prepare for city water and sewer utilities to be replaced along side streets. This will cause disruption. Crews will ensure consecutive intersections will not be closed at one time.

The contractor for this $17.5 million dollar project is Spruce Valley. This project will create a safer, longer lasting driving surface as well as improve drainage, pedestrian accessibility, and a safer intersection. It is estimated to be complete by October 2024, and resume in the spring of 2025, weather permitting. Important reminders for motorists regarding work zone safety:

• Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate through with care and caution.
• Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
• Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
• Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
• Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
• Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
