D3 - Hwy 169 south of Garrison: 2024 construction
Perhaps you've had the chance to see for yourselves, but we're excited to share that all lanes are open on Hwy 169 along west Mille Lacs Lake, south of Garrison!
Work began in early May to resurface and improve seven miles of Hwy 169 from Crow Wing Co. Rd. 26 to a half-mile north of Ojibwe Dr., which required a two-week detour to replace three culverts beneath the road. Crews also added new left turn lanes at Co. Rd. 25 (Timber Trail Rd.) and Swing-A-Way/S. Port and upgraded guardrails.
Due to material delays, crews will return in mid-August to install street lighting. At that time, you may encounter minimal lane or shoulder closures; watch for workers and equipment, and be prepared to stop or slow down.
Many thanks
On behalf of the MnDOT project team, thanks for your patience during this project. We hope you enjoy the smoother road surface, updated drainage and improved traffic flow and safety on Hwy 169.
