Z ARCHIVE Metro - Hwy 169 Jordan to Shakopee: 2024 construction
Crews are completing work on the inside lanes of Hwy 169 between Hwy 21 in Jordan and Hwy 41 in Jackson Township.
Beginning 5 a.m. Wed, July 17, work will move to the outside lanes and traffic will move to the inside lanes in the project area.
Since all lanes are needed for J-turns, those intersections will continue to be closed until both lanes open in late August, weather permitting.
At other intersections, drivers will continue to use right-in, right-out access on Hwy 169, except at these intersections:
- Hwy 21 (left-in turns also available)
- 173rd St. (left-in turns also available)
- 166th St.
- Bluff Dr.
- Northbound left-in turn available at commercial entrance just south of Co. Rd. 14
- Hwy 41 interchange
Use turnarounds at intersections where available.
We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements. Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
Please drive with care in work zones:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

Crews will resurface and repair about nine miles of Hwy 169 between Hwy 21 in Jordan and Marystown Rd. in Shakopee. They will also build new medians and J-turns to eliminate left turns onto Hwy 169. These improvements will remove high-risk movements and improve safety.
The work, scheduled from spring through August 2024, will result in lane closures. Lane closures will not occur on weekends beginning Aug. 9. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained.
