Z ARCHIVE D3 - Hwy 23 Milaca to Ogilvie: 2024 construction
More than halfway there—crews ready to move to next project segment
We're excited to share that you'll soon be able to enjoy the new, smoother lanes between Bock and Ogilvie, as the detour lifts and all lanes open Fri, July 12!
Crews plan to remove the 14-mile detour between Co. Rd. 24 east of Bock and Hwy 47 in Ogilvie on Fri, July 12. We recognize it was an inconvenience, so thanks for your patience during this first project segment.
Hwy 23 will be open between Milaca and Ogilvie this weekend July 13-14.
Milaca to Bock detour begins July 15
The work zone will move westward on Mon, July 15, and crews will work on the second and final segment.
Here's what's ahead:
-
DETOUR July 15 to mid-September - Hwy 23 will close between Co. Rd. 2 in Milaca and Co. Rd. 1. Motorists will detour along Co. Rd. 2 and Co. Rd. 1.
-
Local traffic - Hwy 23 will remain open to those who live, work or visit those along the work zone; however, expect changes and use of alternate accesses. Hard closures will occur to replace underground pipes, update the Hwy 23 accesses at 100th Ave. (Co. Rd. 101) and 90th Ave. (Co. Rd. 144). Follow signs and enter/exit the nearest to your destination to avoid delays.
-
Lane closures mid-September to early October - Crews will resurface the road and complete any remaining work under traffic between Co. Rd. 2 and Co. Rd. 24. Travelers will encounter alternate one-way traffic with flaggers and pilot car.
Also, expect roadwork on Hwy 169 between Milaca and Princeton. Learn more about this project, including the southbound Hwy 169 detour at https://www.mndot.gov/d3/projects/h169pease/
Safety is always first
Hwy 23 is an active work zone. For your safety and ours, stay out of closed areas and always watch for workers and equipment.
When all lanes open in early October, motorists will benefit from a smoother road surface, updated drainage and improved access and safety along 12 miles of Hwy 23. Learn more details, download maps or contact the project team, visit the Hwy 23 project web page.
