Exciting news: roundabout paving is wrapping up today, Friday, May 31! The concrete now needs time to cure, so please avoid this area of the work zone and never go around barriers, tape/ribbons or cones. Disturbed concrete will have to be removed and re-installed. Please help us keep things moving by being alert and cautious. Your cooperation is important! Thank you!!
After the roundabout concrete is cured and deemed ready for traffic use, we will make adjustments to the in-town detour route.
The roundabout will become part of our in-town route and will be used as the cross street for east/west traffic to Highway 108 east/W Mill. Note: The roadway north and south of the intersection will remain closed as work continues at the bridge and utility work begins in Stage 1B (Fourth to Fifth Avenue, in front of the school).
We expect those changes will take place mid next week, weather permitting, and we'll share a new in-town detour map of the adjusted route soon!
Also this week, utility replacements continued in Stage 1A, and crews are currently working near Third Avenue. They also expect to move south of Fourth Avenue into Stage 1B mid next week. Coming up, concrete crews will begin pouring sidewalks in Stage 1A.
Crews finish up concrete paving at the new roundabout at the Highway 59/Highway 108 east intersection

Safety & detour reminders
We have detour routes set up for every type of road user. Trucks and thru-traffic should follow the signed routes out of town, city residents and visitors can follow the in-town detour route (see map), and if you are walking, biking or rolling through town, please follow the signed pedestrian routes. We know it may be inconvenient at times, and you may need to walk a block or two out of the way to get around, but your cooperation is important for your safety.
Pelican Rapids businesses are OPEN during construction, so follow the various detours to best navigate around the work zone and stop in to support them!
If you don't have a destination in Pelican Rapids and want to avoid backups, we advise using the thru-traffic/truck routes out of town to get to the lakes or other destinations. See the map for the thru-traffic route options, depending on your direction of travel.
