Highway 11 Warroad project update: May 31
What's happening now?
- Crews continue placing storm sewer south down Hwy 11 on the west side of the highway
- Placed centerline culvert near CR 5 intersection
- Work began on Cedar Ave. near Lake Street intersection with pavement removal and utility relocates progressing
What's next?
- Pavement removal and subcut preparation will get underway on Hwy 11. Prepare for an abundance of truck traffic entering and leaving the work zone.
- Cedar Ave. will begin storm sewer replacement. Temporary closures of driveways are anticipated as the work zone progresses northward.
Traffic Impact:
- Truck traffic should continue to use the truck detour
- In town traffic is currently two lane on half of the roadway
- Motorists should continue to pay attention and use caution in the work zone
The contractor for this $17.5 million dollar project is Spruce Valley. This project will create a safer, longer lasting driving surface as well as improve drainage, pedestrian accessibility, and a safer intersection. It is estimated to be complete by October 2024, and resume in the spring of 2025, weather permitting. Important reminders for motorists regarding work zone safety:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate through with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
