D6 - Hwy 57 in Mantorville: 2024 construction
Check 511mn.org to know before you go
Rainy weather this week slowed progress, but construction continues on Hwy 57 with crews working to open 9th Street next week. Storm sewer construction and installation of curb between 7th and 9th streets are on the schedule to begin soon.
Look ahead
There’s time to plan ahead.
The Main Street bridge over the Zumbro River at the south end of Mantorville will be closed and detoured starting early June.
We will have a more precise timeframe as crews advance and adjust to any weather issues. The bridge will be closed for approximately a week.
Crews will have to dig open the road to install storm sewer, which requires closure of the road. Motorists will need to use the detour to go into Mantorville during this short duration.
Know before you go by staying informed on traffic information at 511mn.org.
Crews are reporting that drivers are cutting through private property, which puts residents and workers at risk. Please respect others’ private property. Law enforcement is also aware of speeding and dangerous driving in the work zone.
Drivers traveling too fast and not paying attention are the main causes of work zone crashes. Follow these safe driving tips:
-
Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
-
Drive undistracted. Avoid using phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating – while in work zones.
-
Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.
-
Know before you go. Get real-time information about traffic and road conditions at 511mn.org or download the free 511mn app at Google Play or the App Store.
-
Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
-
Do the zipper merge.
-
Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
- Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
-
Expect work zones to constantly change. Day to day you could experience lane shifts, closures, narrower lanes, moving workers and vehicles.
