Hwy 34 Osage to Park Rapids project begins May 13
Motorists will detour utilizing Becker CR 48 and Highway 71
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today, construction on Highway 34 from Osage to Park Rapids will begin May 13. The project limits include from County Road 26/47 west of Osage to Western Avenue in Park Rapids. Motorists will detour utilizing Becker CR 48 and Highway 71.
The project includes a full depth pavement reclamation, shoulder widening, culvert replacements, and sidewalk upgrades in Osage. Project benefits and cost
Benefits of the project include a safer road, improved drainage, pedestrian improvements, and a smoother and longer lasting driving surface. Anderson Brothers is the contractor for the $8.4 million project.
Important reminders for motorists regarding work zone safety:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate through with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
