It's been a chilly and rainy week in Moorhead, and although some of the work plans have been adjusted to accommodate the weather, crews aren't slowing down!
Current work and happenings
Crews are prepping for piling operations, which were delayed this week due to rain and wind. Once the weather improves, pile driving will begin and those in the area around the 11th Street project site for the next several months may feel vibrations or experience louder noise during these activities. There will be teams on-site to monitor vibration levels. If you live in the area, consider moving any fragile items away from the edges of shelves.
Grading of the railroad shoofly and building demolition continue. Motorists traveling on Center Avenue today and Saturday may encounter one lane of traffic between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., for demolition cleanup.
City street project to begin Monday
Starting the week of April 22, weather permitting, the City of Moorhead's project on 2nd Avenue N will begin and 2nd Avenue N will close between 10th Street and 12th Street. Although this road is not part of MnDOT's official detour route (which crosses on 4th Avenue), it could affect local alternate routes. The City's project is expected to be completed by the beginning of July.
There may be other projects in Moorhead that could affect your travel routes, so please check in with the City of Moorhead for plans and impacts. Visit their website or follow the City of Moorhead on Facebook.
Other reminders

-
Train horns have resumed in the Downtown Quiet Zone during construction hours (Monday - Friday, 6am - 7pm). This is a requirement of the railroad, and we appreciate your understanding as worker safety is prioritized.
-
Moorhead businesses are open during construction! If your destination falls within/near the work zone or along the detour routes, please check in with the business to determine the best route there.
-
Never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones. It is not safe to drive, walk or bike around barricades, even in areas where workers aren't present or active. Those boundaries are set up for your safety. There are signed detours installed for both motorists and pedestrians. Please use those routes.
