Tune up your ride – Bike to School Day is May 8!

Children and parents biking

Join the fun - National Bike to School day is May 8!

Bike to School Day promotion and events can be large or small and still make an impact to promote the physical health and safety of children. These events are an easy way for students and families to try walking, bicycling, and rolling to school. Parents/caregivers might be surprised at just how little time it takes!

One-time events like Bike to School Day can help encourage local partners to make it safer and easier for children to walk and bike to school or other places in their communities. In 2021, 65% of Walk to School Day event organizers across the nation indicated that their event led to planned or already completed policy or engineering changes. Nearly 40% of Walk & Roll to School Day organizers used their event to draw attention to road safety needs in their communities. Be strategic and use this event to garner support for longer term policy or built environment changes.
