We're a few weeks into construction on the 11th Street underpass project and first we want to say thank you to Moorhead residents, businesses and visitors for your patience and cooperation so far. Work zones are in place, detours are up, and we know road construction can be inconvenient and disruptive. We appreciate your commitment to safety, your support of local businesses, and the overall teamwork it takes to make a project like this successful!
Information to know
Noise & vibrations
As you've probably already heard, train horns have resumed in the Downtown Quiet Zone during construction hours (Monday - Friday, 6am - 7pm). This is a requirement of the railroad, and we appreciate your understanding as worker safety is prioritized.
Piling operations begin Monday, April 15 and those in the area around the 11th Street project site may feel vibrations or experience louder noise. These activities will continue off and on for the next several months as work progresses. There will be teams on-site to monitor vibration levels.
What can you do to be prepared:
- Move any fragile items away from the edges of shelves
- Continue to communicate your questions and concerns at the project hotline: 218-292-8779
Lane closure on Center Avenue April 17-19
Weather permitting, starting April 17 through April 19, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day, eastbound traffic on Center Avenue/Highway 10 will encounter a lane closure near the intersection of 11th Street while building demolition is underway. Please travel through this area with caution.

- Still have questions? Join us on Thursday, April 18, from 9 to 10 a.m., for "Coffee & Construction" our next in-person public open house, at Moorhead's Hjemkomst Center, located at 202 1st Ave N.

Moorhead businesses are open during construction! If your destination falls within/near the work zone or along the detour routes, please check in with the business to determine the best route there.
-
Never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones. It is not safe to drive, walk or bike around barricades, even in areas where workers aren't present or active. Those boundaries are set up for your safety. There are signed detours installed for both motorists and pedestrians. Please use those routes.
