Minnesota’s use of electric vehicles is rapidly growing. To help meet the fueling needs of these vehicles, MnDOT – with support from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) – will fund the installation and operation of Electric Vehicle (EV) fast-charging stations along interstates and other roadways in Minnesota. The need for well-trained EV charging station installers will continue to grow. FHWA-funded projects require at least one electrician working on the charger installation project be certified through the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP). This 20-hour training program includes online coursework and an examination and is available to state-licensed or certified electricians. The fee for the training program and certification is $275 per person.
To learn more about the course and certification, visit www.evitp.org.
