MnDOT and its partners provide free training for adults to help them enter the workforce in highway construction. To be eligible, participants must identify as BIPOC, a woman, or otherwise disadvantaged.
Carpentry – Metro
Learn about the highway construction industry, earn safety certifications, and connect with employers. Participants will receive a starter set of tools upon program completion.
Cement Mason-Labor – Metro
Get training in highway construction. Gain opportunities for job placement in this 6-week program. Work boots, PPE and construction tools provided.
Dirt/water/sewer systems-labor – Metro
Two-week training in dirt/water/sewer systems during May 14-24. Gain opportunities for job placement.
Highway construction training – Rochester
Over six-weeks, learn employment strategies, shop practice, carpentry theory, residential blueprint reading, construction estimating, and industrial safety and first aid.
