Construction season is right around the corner and we wanted to let you know about some upcoming projects in central Minnesota. Visit their project websites for more details and sign up for project email updates to stay in the loop throughout construction. |
Description: Reconstruct and improve the interchange area; includes road surface, bridges, utilities, drainage structures, pedestrian and motorist accesses; construct 4th St. SE bridge over Hwy 10
Construct: April—November (year 2 of 2)
Impacts: One lane each direction 24-7; access changes/detours
Description: Expand to four lanes
Construct: Spring–November (year 2 of 2); North Gap—Paynesville to Richmond: complete November 2023
Impacts: Detours
Description: Resurface and improve 12 miles of road from Mille Lacs Co. Rd. 2 in Milaca to Hwy 47 in east Ogilvie, includes shoulders, pipes and accesses
Construct: Mid-May–late October
Impacts: Lane closures, alternate one-way traffic, flaggers, pilot car; detours for pipe work
Description: Resurface and update the Mississippi River bridge, includes drainage and sidewalks
Construct: Early July–late October
Impacts: One lane each way, 24-7, over the bridge. Be prepared for significant delays, seek other routes
Description: Expand to three lanes in each direction from Albertville to Monticello, includes drainage and bridges
Construct: Fall 2024–fall 2026
Impacts: 2024: Lane closures at off-peak hours; 2025–2026: two lanes each direction, changes to access
Description: Reconstruct 11 miles of road, widen shoulders and upgrade drainage from the Ripple River in Aitkin to the Mississippi River
Construct: Late April–late fall (year 2 of 2)
Impacts: Detours
Description: Resurface (mill and pave) seven miles of road between Crow Wing Co. Rd. 26 to half-mile north of Ojibwe Dr.; install left-turn lanes at Timber Trail Rd and Swing-A-Way; replace pipes and guardrail
Construct: Early May–mid-July
Impacts: Alternate one-way traffic on weekdays at off-peak times nightwork; detours for pipe work
Description: Between Milaca and Princeton—resurface both directions; includes shoulders, turn-lanes, pipes; Pease—install a J-turn to improve access and safety at Mille Lacs Co. Rd. 8; includes pipes, sidewalks
Construct: Early July–mid-October
Impacts: Lane closures at off-peak hours; southbound Hwy 169 detour for pipe work; Co. Rd. 8 detour for J-turn
Description: Convert three miles of Hwy 169 to a freeway between Hwy 10/101 and 197th Ave.; includes four interchanges
Construct: April–November (year 3 of 3)
Impacts: One lane each direction, 24/7; changes to access
