Last week, paving was completed in Phase 2 of the Highway 9 reconstruction project in Barnesville. Final striping is done, concrete crews are wrapping up, and railroad crews are finishing their work as well. By this evening (Friday, Sept. 22), Main Avenue/Highway 9 will reopen to all traffic!
In the upcoming weeks, please continue to watch for workers along the roadside as cleanup and other miscellaneous work is completed.
As the roadway reopens to all traffic, Barnesville residents and commuters should be aware of some traffic changes in downtown Barnesville, including:
- A new four-way stop at the intersection of Main Avenue and Front Street
- Two-way stop at the intersection of Front Street and 2nd Avenue South (Front Street traffic does not stop)
Please travel with care!

Down the road, the stop sign on Front Street was removed. North/southbound traffic will no longer stop at 2nd Avenue South, and a "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" sign was installed on 2nd Avenue.
Thank you to the entire Barnesville community for your patience and commitment to safety during construction. We know road work can be frustrating, especially when it affects your daily commute and life. MnDOT appreciates your cooperation!
