Starting Monday, Aug. 28, weather permitting, crews will begin work in Phase 2 on Highway 9/Main Avenue, between Front Street and Fourth Street in Barnesville. The roadway will close in this area on Monday, and will be impassable to all traffic between Front Street and the railroad tracks until mid-September.
Exciting news for Potato Days this weekend, Aug. 25-26: Highway 9 from I-94 to Main Avenue (Phases 1 and 3) will temporarily reopen to all traffic for the weekend's festivities! All work will pause on the project and the barricades will be pulled aside to allow full access to Highway 9 and Barnesville for the big community celebration.
Paving is now completed in both Phases 1 and 3 (I-94 to Main Avenue), and going forward, these areas will be open to local traffic. However, there is still some concrete installation remaining and other miscellaneous work, including final striping, so please slow down in the work zone and watch for workers along the roadside.
Highway 9 thru-traffic remains detoured to I-94 and County Road 30 until the project is complete in September.

Residential and business access is being maintained at all times, but local traffic should expect restrictions in the areas where crews are working. Depending on your destination, you will need to use local streets to get around construction.
Barnesville businesses remain open during construction! Check in with the business to get the best route to their location.
If your destination does not fall within the work zone, please take the detour or find an alternate route.
