Z ARCHIVE D3 - Hwy 169 Redefine - Elk River freeway: 2022-2024 construction
The work zone will transition Thu, Aug. 10 as all 169 traffic shifts onto the northbound side between Main St. and 197th Ave. This will give crews the opportunity to continue freeway construction on the west side with all lanes open by Nov. 1.
Here's what to expect:
- Hwy 169 traffic will use the new bridge over Jackson/193rd Ave.; however, access ramps will be closed.
- Southbound Hwy 169 access to/from Freeport St. will also close; all other existing access will remain unchanged and open.
- Hwy 169 will remain one lane in each direction, 24-7, between Main St. and 197th Ave. until Nov. 1.
- Hwy 169 access open at Hwy 10, Main St. or the 197th Ave. interchange
- Jackson/193rd Ave. will remain closed at Hwy 169 until Nov. 1
- School St./Elk Hills Dr. will remain closed at Hwy 169 until Nov. 1

Crews pave the northbound side lanes in preparation for Thurs, Aug. 10 traffic switch
While motorists will travel on new road surfaces, please be aware the road surface and bridge are not completed. Hwy 169 will receive one final layer of asphalt in October, so motorists may encounter uneven or bumpy road areas. Storm water drainage will also take longer and may be on the road. Please pay attention and drive accordingly.
