Join a Technical Advisory Panel
Your expertise is needed! The LRRB Research Implementation Committee has selected nine new projects in topics areas including bridges and structures, maintenance operations, policy and planning, and traffic and safety that are scheduled to begin October 1.
We're looking for city and county representatives to serve on TAPs for these projects. As a TAP member, you will attend a limited number of meetings and review research results. You will also help researchers and the LRRB find the most productive ways to apply research results in the field.
Make a difference without making a major time commitment:
- Project duration is usually 12 months.
- Attend 3-5 TAP meetings (virtual, 2 hours in length)
- Review materials and provide a local government perspective in making the research/deliverable practical!
Click on the link below to learn about the upcoming projects. You can sign up using the QR code or website link on the form.
Thank you in advance!

Take the Survey: Tenting of Asphalt Pavement Transverse Cracks
The LRRB project, Mitigation of Tenting of Transverse Cracks and Joints in Asphalt Pavement, will develop a best practices manual for the mitigation of tenting or heaving of transverse cracks during the winter. In Minnesota, tenting affects the riding quality and the safety of road users. Currently, the project team is seeking to gain understanding of the severity of the tenting problem on roads in Minnesota and the effectiveness of current mitigation measures.
Your input will aid their understanding of the problem. Please take this 6-question survey that should take about 5 minutes to complete. If you have questions, contact Dr. Manik Barman at mbarman@d.umn.edu. Please complete the survey by Friday, Aug. 25. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond!
