Planning for People First – Complete Streets
Complete Streets are safe streets, for all users of the transportation system. MnDOT updated its Complete Streets policy and supporting resources in 2022 to create a clearer decision-making sequence for integrating a Complete Streets approach into transportation decision-making. The approach prioritizes relative vulnerability, is sensitive to local context and recognizes that needs vary across urban, suburban, and rural settings. Key updates from the Policy, along with recent research results about the economic benefits of Complete Streets will be shared.
Presenter
Nissa Tupper (she/her) works with partners to embed public health and equity practices into state transportation decision-making. Her approach is informed by a diverse professional background in communications, landscape architecture, and public health.
