Hwy 57 detour begins April 24 in Kasson for construction projects

Hwy 57 projects in Kasson are rescheduled to start April 24 due to spring weight load restrictions. The project was originally scheduled to start on April 17. Spring weight load restrictions limit the amount of weight trucks can carry on certain roads during springtime when the ground is thawing and the roads could be damaged by heavier loads. Once conditions are determined to be improved, the load limits are removed. Detours Detours are for through traffic. Motorists wanting to reach destinations in Kasson may utilize portions of the detour to get to those locations. Stage 2 detour for Hwy 57 traffic traveling north: Turn left on 4th St. SW, turn right on 2nd Ave. SW, turn left on Co. Rd. 34 (Co. Rd. 34 turns into 8th Ave. SW/Co. Rd. 21), turn right on Co. Rd. 12, which takes motorists back to Hwy 57. Hwy 57 traffic traveling south will use the same detour in reverse. Motorists wanting to reach downtown Kasson can utilize the detour and continue north of 2nd Ave. SW instead of turning on Co. Rd. 34. Stage 2 detour for pedestrians going north: Turn left on 2nd St. SW, turn left on Co. Rd. 34, turn right on 2nd Ave. SW, turn right on West Main St., turn left on 1st Ave. NW, turn right on 2nd St. NW which takes pedestrians to Hwy 57. Pedestrians going south will use the same detour in reverse. The Hwy 57 and 16th St. intersection will be closed during construction. Zumbro Education District (ZED) can be accessed from Hwy 57 from the north and Kasson-Mantorville schools can be accessed from 16th St. and 5th Ave.

Hwy 57 reconstruction project

The final year of the two-year construction project is scheduled to begin April 24 and end in July, weather permitting. It includes all reconstruction work from south of Veterans Memorial Hwy/Dodge Co. Rd. 34 to just north of 1st St. NE, including the roundabout at Co. Rd. 34 and the mini roundabout at Main St..

The work in 2022 included all reconstruction work from just north of 1st St. NE to north of 11th St. NE.

Hwy 57 and 16^th St. roundabout

Construction is scheduled from April 24 to July 2023, weather permitting, with the following work:

• Construct roundabout at Hwy 57 and 16th St. in Kasson
• Make watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer improvements
• Improve accessibility for pedestrians
• Construct a trail connection

The project is a local partnership project and is being led by the City of Kasson.
