D3 - Hwy 169 Redefine - Elk River freeway: 2022-2024 construction
New lanes, bridges open
A school bus uses the 197th Ave. bridge over Hwy 169 in Elk River.
All newly reconstructed lanes of Hwy 10, 101 and 169 and the new 197th Ave. bridge and northbound Hwy 101/169 bridge, are open. We hope you enjoy the new accesses and smoother road surfaces as 2022 construction cools down.
While everything is open, crews will continue to work as long as mother nature allows and this will require periodic lane closures at times through Elk River.
Also, expect off-road work year round—construct retaining walls and noise barrier.
Snow and ice season is upon us. Please give our plow drivers room to work as they make the road safer for you. For current traffic and road conditions, check 511mn.org or get the free smartphone app at Google Play or the App Store.
Work operations will resume in full force in Spring 2023 as crews construct two new Hwy 169 interchanges at Jackson/193rd Ave. and School St.
Hwy 169 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 197th Ave. and Main St. from April to November. Access at School St. and Jackson/193rd Ave. will close. Temporary access will be open at:
- Southbound Hwy 169 and Holt St.
- Northbound Hwy 169 and Evans St.
In early spring, MnDOT and the City of Elk River will host a 2023 construction open house. The public will have an opportunity to view layouts and ask questions. More details to become available when known.
