Construction continues and the project remains on schedule to reopen by mid-November, as long as mother nature cooperates. So, hang in there—soon you'll be enjoying the new, smoother roadway!
Pedestrian sidewalk has been poured along the southside of Hwy 23 from Broadway Ave. to 8th Ave./Penn St. in Foley.
All seven pipes beneath Hwy 23 are installed between Foley and Milaca and the final lift of asphalt is being placed.
Final countdown
In the last few weeks of the project, crews will be busy throughout the 13.5-mile work zone as they finish grading the shoulders and ditch slopes, pave the final lift of asphalt, establish turf, install permanent road striping, rumble strips and signs. Once Hwy 23 is reopened, they'll remove the traffic control devices, detour signs and haul out heavy work equipment.
Very active work zone
Hwy 23 remains closed and detoured to through traffic between Foley and Milaca. Those who live, work or visit those within the work zone can expect delays, multiple crews and equipment, stops with flaggers and alternate one-way traffic. Use the nearest exit/entry to your destination to avoid delays.
