It's been several weeks now since construction began on Highway 200 between Mahnomen and Roy Lake. Crews have 22.5 miles of shoulder widening to do, and they are moving right along, having started on the west end of the project, moving east. As they work, they complete one-mile sections at a time and in those areas, residents may encounter lane closures, slow-moving equipment and trucks hauling. Please obey traffic control.
An important reminder: Highway 200 is closed between Mahnomen and Roy Lake. If you do not live, work or have a destination on Highway 200, please follow the detour: Highway 59, Highway 113 and CR 39.
Bridge work begins Thursday
Due to high water levels, the bridge replacement at Twin Lakes Creek was delayed to start. But conditions have improved and that work will begin this Thursday, June 9, conditions and weather permitting.
Starting Thursday, the roadway will be impassable at the bridge site for all traffic. Residents and other local traffic will need to use the detour or find an alternate route around the bridge.
Other traffic impacts
In addition to lane closures and bridge closures, residents should be aware of reduced speed limits for about one mile east of Roy Lake. Be prepared to encounter loose gravel. Travel with caution.
A nearby project is taking place on Highway 92 north of Zerkel. That project also includes a detour. For more information, visit the project website.
