Metro – Hwy 10 Anoka: 2022-2024 construction
Please plan for some major shifts in the weeks ahead as construction continues to ramp up.
Hwy 10 weekend closure scheduled for April 22-25
Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, April 22, Hwy 10 will be closed in both directions between Hwy 47/Ferry St. and 7th Ave. until 5 a.m. Mon, April 25. Drivers will be detoured to use Hwy 610, I-94 and Hwy 101.
During the weekend closure, crews will be removing and replacing utilities under Hwy 10. Residents in the area should be aware that crews will be working 24-hours a day during the weekend and may experience some noise, lights and vibrations.
Church Street and Forest Avenue close April 25
Beginning Mon, April 25, Church St. will be closed in both directions between W. Main St. and Forest Ave.; additionally, Forest Ave. will be closed in both directions between Church St. and Western Ave. Drivers will be detoured to use W. Main St., Green Ave., Bean St. and Western Ave. Access to businesses will be maintained. Church St. and Forest Ave. will remain closed through mid-July.
Upcoming traffic changes and closures
- To improve driver access to/from Hwy 47/St. Francis Blvd., a temporary traffic signal at the McKinley St. and Hwy 47 intersection will be activated in late April, along with other traffic improvement measures along Hwy 47.
- Drivers should expect the following closures in early May. More details will be provided as information is available.
- Main St./Greenhaven Rd. interchange
- Hwy 10 Service Rd. between Cutters Grove Ave. and Cutters Ln.
- Main St. Service Rd. between Fairoak Ave. and Greenhaven Rd.
- Westbound Hwy 10 ramp to Hwy 47/Ferry St.
- Thurston Ave. closure extended to Hwy 10 Service Rd./Vista Way
Reminder to use the temporary loop ramp from southbound 7th Ave. to eastbound Hwy 10
As a reminder, drivers on southbound 7th Ave. who are traveling to eastbound Hwy 10 should use the temporary loop ramp. Using the loop ramp will help keep traffic from getting backed up on 7th Ave. Southbound 7th Ave. drivers need to get in the right lane to use the temporary loop ramp. The left-turn lane for the existing eastbound Hwy 10 entrance ramp is closed.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather permitting and subject to change.
More about this project
MnDOT and the City of Anoka are working together to reconstruct and improve roads and bridges on Hwy 10 between Thurston Ave. and 7th Ave. through Anoka. When complete, the two-year Hwy 10 Anoka project will improve traffic flow, decrease traffic delays and increase safety. Construction is anticipated to be completed in spring 2024.
