 Upcoming Highway Heavy – MnDOT Training
Do you enjoy hands-on work, problem solving, and working outdoors? Did you know that over the next 10 years MnDOT anticipates awarding a significant amount of funds on projects in Duluth and the surrounding area, including Twin Ports Interchange, Interstate 35, and the Blatnik Bridge projects?
MnDOT is partnering with SOAR Career Solutions to offer training to women, minority, and disadvantaged individuals who are interested in working in the highway heavy construction industry.
16-week training takes place January 2022 – April 2022 and includes the following:
- Tools and materials of building trades
- Blueprint reading
- OSHA 10 certification and safety
- Trades-based math
- Green techniques and standards
- Hands-on experience with Ironworkers Local Union 512 or UI Operating Engineers Local 49
- Networking with union representatives and employers
- Career planning and job search tools
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements. Space is limited.
