2021 Construction: Hwy 87 Frazee to Becker/Wadena County Line
Come Friday afternoon, crews will pack up for the Fourth of July weekend. Work will resume on Tuesday, July 6.
Although the work will stop over the holiday weekend, Highway 87 remains closed to thru-traffic. Barricades and cones will remain in place, and the road is impassable at the Otter Tail River in Frazee, between North River Drive and Main Avenue East. Thru-traffic must follow the detour on Highway 71, Highway 34 and County Road 29/Birch Avenue in Frazee.
There are more than 200 projects underway on state roads this construction season, including the Highway 87 project. While most work is suspended over the July 4 holiday, work zones will remain in place for many projects throughout the state. Please visit www.511mn.org to get information about road construction projects and traffic impacts before you head out, think about alternate routes and prepare for slower moving traffic.
We wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July!
Hwy 87 Construction Update
Since June 21, crews have been working on culvert replacements between County Road 31 and County Road 33/County Road 115 on Highway 87. In this area, there are two box culverts and several pipe replacements. Crews started on the west side of this area, replacing the first box culvert located east of County Road 31. They are now finishing up additional pipe replacements between that site and the site of the second box culvert located just west of County Road 33/County Road 115. Once they get to the second box culvert, the road will close at the culvert location. During that replacement, locals will need to use an alternate route around this section of Highway 87. Local traffic should watch the message boards for any specific date information.
At the same time, crews have also been busy with shoulder widening and the bridge replacement at the Otter Tail River in Frazee. Weather permitting, crews will be pouring the bridge deck bright and early on Tuesday, July 6!
