MnDOT to host open house on June 29 for Hwy 29 overpass project

MnDOT Open House on June 29

Please join MnDOT on Tuesday, June 29, between 3 and 6 p.m., at the Pope County Courthouse (130 E. Minnesota Ave. in Glenwood) to learn more about the project and upcoming construction and detours. We'll be in the first floor Community Room! Open house format, so stop in whenever it's convenient!

At the open house, you'll be able to review maps and visual displays of the Highway 29 overpass design, and meet the project team, who can answer questions and provide more details about the project and construction. Consistent with the latest health guidance, those who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering.

About the project

The Highway 29 overpass will eliminate an “at grade” crossing with the Canadian Pacific railway system, and address safety and congestion issues.

Construction will take place over two years, starting July 19, 2021. The work taking place this year will focus on Highway 55, which will be detoured through October. Crews will realign Highway 55, moving it closer to the railroad to minimize the length of the future bridge on Highway 29. In addition, they will reconstruct 160th Street and build the roundabout at the Highway 55/160th Street intersection. In Spring 2022, crews will return to begin construction of the Highway 29 bridge and second roundabout at the Highway 29/160th Street intersection.
