By Thursday morning, July 2, motorists will encounter a traffic change on northbound I-35W between Lake Dr. and Sunset Ave. in Blaine. As drivers on northbound I-35W approach Lake Dr., they will need to decide between two lanes: a lane to exit local roads and a through lane.
- Drivers who want to exit to the local roads of 95th Ave. or Lexington Ave. will need to remain in the right lane.
- Drivers who are traveling further north can use the left lane, which will not have access to local roads. This through lane will be separated by concrete barriers until the end of the construction work zone at Sunset Ave.
This traffic configuration will remain in place through August.
Overnight work and short-term lane and ramp closures
As construction activities pick up on the project, crews are working overnight in the project area. Ongoing throughout the summer, drivers should anticipate overnight lane closures and at times short-term ramp closures between the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Rosegate closes in early July
Crews continue to work on the I-35W bridge over Co. Rd. C and Rosegate in Roseville. To complete the bridge work, crews need a closure of Rosegate starting in early July through the end of this year’s construction season. We will provide more details in upcoming updates.
A reminder to drive safely near construction work areas
To keep you and our crews safe, please drive with care around construction work zones:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone then navigate through with care and caution
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment
- Obey posted speed limits; speeding in a work zone can result in a $300 fine
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during rush hours
All construction activities and closures are weather permitting and subject to change.
