If you’re traveling on either I-494 or I-694 in the Woodbury and Oakdale area, you’ll encounter lane restrictions, ramp closures and detours starting May 30, weather permitting.
We’ll be taking WB Tamarack Rd. down to a single lane between Weir Dr. and Bielenberg Dr. starting at 6 a.m., Thu, May 30.
Also, at 6 a.m., Thu, May 30, crews will be closing the Tamarack Rd. entrance ramp to SB I-494 and the NB I-494 exit ramp to Tamarack Rd. to local traffic. You’ll be detoured to the Valley Creek Rd. Interchange.
In addition, beginning at 6 a.m. Thu, May 30, EB 10th St. between Hwy 120/Century Ave. and Inwood Ave. will be reduced to a single lane and the 10th St. ramp to NB I-694 will close to local traffic. You’ll be directed to follow the posted detour to the 34th St. N/Old Hwy 5 Interchange.
These lanes and ramps will remain closed through September and are needed to accommodate detoured interstate traffic from the I-94/I-494/I-694 Interchange reconstruction project.
The I-94/I-494/I-694 interchange and bridge reconstruction project is being done to provide a smoother, safer, long-lasting road with updated bridges and some mobility improvements. Performing periodic pavement repairs at the appropriate times can greatly increase a road’s lifespan. The project helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years. Construction is expected to be complete by fall 2020.
