The agenda tactically incorporated expert speakers to explain strategic design, engineering and legal aspects of project planning.

Guest speakers included:

  • Merry Beckman and Tim Worke, Association of Government Contractors
  • Keith Baker, National Association of Minority Contractors
  • Joe Uhlhorn, Wenk Engineering
  • Rich Haavisto, MnDOT
  • Elisa Bottos, MnDOT
  • Amy Sullivan, MnDOT

Ashanti Payne, MnDOT’s Operation Manager, said, “The training provides participants with an understanding of project management practices and identifies roadblocks that can affect schedule and documentation requirements so small businesses can successfully participate on MnDOT contracts.”

At the conclusion of the comprehensive workshop, 15 attendees received the Project and Construction Management Award, which is a certification of completion for demonstrating an understanding of project and construction management.

The Small Business Resource Center in partnership with Makee Company, was developed to offer education and training resources to help businesses thrive.
