Metro area weekend traffic impacts map: Oct. 19-21

These traffic impacts are new as of this weekend.

Hwy 3 in Inver Grove Heights

  • Hwy 149 is now open to all lanes between Hwy 3 and Rich Valley Blvd.

Hwy 8 Forest Lake and Taylors Falls

  • Drainage repair is complete and all lanes have reopened on Hwy 8 between Hwy 61 in Forest Lake and just north of 275th St. in Chisago City in Chisago and Washington Counties.

Hwy 10 in Blaine

  • Beginning 8 p.m. Fri., Oct. 19, the ramp from WB Hwy 10 to Hwy 65 is closed through 8 p.m. Sun, Oct. 21. Follow detour.
  • Beginning 8 p.m. Fri., Oct. 19, the right lane of WB Hwy 10 is closed between Airport Rd. and the ramp from Hwy 65 to WB Hwy 10 through 3 p.m. Mon, Oct. 22.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning Thu, Oct. 18, WB I-94 will reopen to all lanes between Chicago Ave. and Nicollet Ave.
  • Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, Oct. 19, I-35W is closed between I-94 and Hwy 62 through 5 a.m. Mon, Oct. 22.

I-35W in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 5 a.m. Sat, Oct. 20, the ramp from 46th St. to SB I-35W is closed through 6 a.m. Sun, Oct. 21.

I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

  • The ramp from WB Hwy 36 to SB Cleveland Ave. is now open.

I-35W Minnesota River Bridge - Burnsville to Bloomington

  • Beginning Thu, Oct. 18, SB I-35W is reduced from four lanes to three lanes between 106th St. and Cliff Rd. through summer 2021.
  • Beginning Thu, Oct. 18, the ramp from 106th St. to SB I-35W is closed through summer 2021. Follow detour using NB I-35W, 98th St, to access SB I-35W.

Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 in Minneapolis

  • Beginning Fri, Oct. 19, crews will finish replacing sidewalks, signals and making accessibility improvements on four intersections along Central Ave. (Hwy 65) and University Ave. (Hwy 47) in Minneapolis.

Hwy 65 in Ham Lake and East Bethel

  • Work on the new Reduced Conflict Intersection (RCI) is completed. The new intersection, including the median, is open at Hwy 65 and 157th Ave.

Hwy 96 in Stillwater Township

  • Beginning early Mon, Oct. 22, Hwy 96 is closed between Manning Ave. (Co. Rd. 15) and Stonebridge Trail N. for two weeks to replace storm water culvert between North and South Twin Lakes. Access to local traffic only. Follow detour.

Hwy 149/High Bridge (St. Paul to Mendota Heights)

  • Beginning 6 a.m. Fri, Oct. 19, Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. at Wagon Wheel Trail is closed for storm sewer installation through 6 p.m. the same day.
  • Beginning 6 a.m. Fri, Oct. 19, the eastern half of the Dodd Rd./Emerson Ave. intersection is closed through 6 p.m. while Saint Paul Regional Water Services works on the regional water main.

Hwy 169 in Belle Plaine, Jordan

  • SB Hwy 169 is now open to all lanes between Delaware Ave. and Hwy 25.

Metro Wide Overhead Signing

  • Beginning Fri, Oct. 19, MnDOT will complete updating and replacing overhead signs above specific highways and interstates in five counties.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning Mon, Oct. 22, access to downtown (11th St/E. Grant St.) will reopen from NB I-35W.
  • Beginning 5 a.m. Mon, Oct. 22, the ramp from WB I-94 to SB I-35W will reopen.

  • Beginning Tue, Oct. 23, NB/SB I-35W will reopen all lanes between 4th St. and Co. Rd. C.

  • Beginning 6 a.m. Mon, Oct. 22, the left lane of WB Hwy 55 is closed between Old Rockford Rd. and Sioux Dr. through 3 p.m. the same day.

  • Accesses to local streets may be closed temporarily through mid-October.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Access to downtown (5th Ave. S.) is closed from NB I-35W through summer 2019. SB I-35W is reduced to two lanes from downtown Minneapolis to 43rd St. through fall 2019. NB I-35W is reduced to three lanes from 43rd St. to downtown Minneapolis through fall 2021. View map of all lane closures.
  • The following ramps are closed: EB I-94 to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021; NB I-35W to WB I-94 is closed through fall 2021; SB I-35W to 35th St. is closed through fall 2020; EB I-94 to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021.
  • The following bridges are closed: 26th St. bridge over I-35W through Wed, Nov. 7; 24th St. pedestrian bridge over I-35W until fall 2021; 40th St. bridge over I-35W is closed to pedestrians and bicyclists through fall 2020.
  • Crews will be working 24-hours, seven-days a week between 24th St. N. and I-94 through October. Expect construction noise and lights.
  • There are several other road, lane, ramp and local street closures.

I-35 in Harris

  • I-35 in both directions will have off-peak daytime lane closures between Harris and the Chisago/Pine County line through fall 2018.

I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

  • SB I-35 is reduced to two lanes separated by a concrete barrier between Hwy 8 and Hwy 97 through fall 2018. 
  • The Forest Lake Rest Area from SB I-35 also is closed during this project work.

I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

  • NB/SB I-35W is reduced by one lane between 4th St. and Co. Rd. C. through Wed, Oct. 23.
  • The following ramps to/from NB I-35W are closed through Wed, Oct. 23:
    • 4th St. SE
    • SE 11th St.
    • Johnson St/New Brighton Blvd/Stinson Blvd.
    • Industrial Blvd.

I-35W Minnesota River Bridge - Burnsville to Bloomington

  • I-35W will have alternating lane closures in both directions between Cliff Rd. in Burnsville and 106th St. in Bloomington daily. After 10 p.m. each night I-35W may be reduced to a single lane through 5 a.m. the following day. These nightly lane closures will occur through mid-November.

I-35W Roseville to Blaine/Lino Lakes

  • I-35W in both directions will have off-peak night time lane closures between Mounds View and Blaine/Lino Lakes through fall 2018.

Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

  • The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.
  • Traffic has been transferred to the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge to the south in Oak Park Heights.

Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 in Minneapolis

  • Work is underway on the intersection at University Ave. and Broadway Ave. through mid-November. Expect lane closures and delays.

Hwy 55 Minneapolis to Rockford

  • Watch for short-term lane closures through spring 2019.

Hwy 55 in Rosemount

  • WB Hwy 55 is closed between Fischer Ave. and west of County Rd. 42 (145th St.) through mid-November.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • Watch for single lane closures in both directions of Hwy 62 during the day and overnight from I-494 to Hwy 100 through late October.

Hwy 65 in Fridley

  • Access from the West Service Drive on Hwy 65 to 63rd Ave. is closed through late October. Traffic is restricted to a single southbound lane on the West Service Drive. NB traffic is detoured.

Hwy 65 Ham Lake to East Bethel

  • The center median at Hwy 65 is closed at 187th Ln. until late October. Northbound traffic will continue north on Hwy 65 and use the newly constructed median crossover to travel south on Hwy 65 to reach 187th Ln. Southbound traffic will continue south to 181st Ave./Baltimore St. to reach 187th Ln. The new southbound median crossover is under construction.
  • Work at the intersection of Hwy 65 and 187th Ave. will continue through fall. 
  • Work is underway on left turn lane extensions between 85th Ave. in Spring Lake Park and Sims Rd. in East Bethel. During the work, motorists will encounter temporary shoulder closures and lane closures as well as short-term closures at cross streets.

Hwy 149/High Bridge (St. Paul to Mendota Heights)

  • The Hwy 149 High Bridge is closed through December 2018. Primary Detour: Annapolis St. to Robert St to Kellogg Blvd to West 7th St. to Smith Ave/Hwy 149
  • Dodd Rd./Hwy 149 is closed from Mendota Heights Rd. to Hwy 110 through late October.
  • An Xcel Energy project is underway along Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. Motorists should anticipate the following traffic impact due to project work: Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. at Delaware Ave. is closed to relocate the gas main through mid-October.
  • There are several other road, lane and trail/sidewalk closures.
  • There will be intermittent jackhammering noise during the removal of temporary High Bridge footings through Sat, Oct. 20.

Hwy 169 in Champlin

  • Watch for temporary non-peak lane closures on NB and SB Hwy 169 from the Mississippi river to Hwy 610 through late October.

I-494 Inver Grove Heights and South St. Paul

  • The ramp from WB I-494 to 5th Ave. is closed through November 2018. 
  • Detour: WB I-494 to Hwy 52 ramps
  • Concord St. is a single lane between the I-494 ramps through spring 2019.

Hwy 610 in Maple Grove

  • Traffic is reduced to a single lane on EB Hwy 610 between I-94 and Elm Creek Blvd. until late October.
