Metro area weekend traffic impacts map: Oct. 5-7

Please make sure to plan ahead and know your route before your travels this weekend! And don't forget to slow down in work zones.

New this weekend

These traffic impacts are new as of this weekend.

Hwy 3 in Inver Grover Heights

  • Hwy 3 is now open between Ann Marie Trail and Hwy 149.
  • The intersection of Hwy 3 and Rich Valley Rd/Co. Rd. 71 is now open.
  • Watch for lane closures with flaggers on Hwy 149 between Hwy 3 and Rich Valley Blvd. through mid-October.

I-35E Columbus to Vadnais Heights

  • Southbound I-35E is now open between I-35E/I-35W split and County Rd. 96.

I-35W Minnesota River Bridge - Burnsville to Bloomington

  • Beginning 2 a.m. Sun, Oct. 7, temporary full closure of I-35W between Hwy 13 and 106th St. for up to 15 minutes at a time through 4 a.m. the same day.

I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

  • Beginning 7 p.m. Fri, Oct. 5, the following ramps are closed through 5 a.m. Mon, Oct. 8: SB Cleveland Ave. to EB Hwy 36; NB Cleveland Ave. to EB Hwy 36; WB Hwy 36 to NB I-35W; SB I-35W to SB Cleveland Ave. to County Rd. B.

Hwy 55 Minneapolis to Rockford

  • The right lane of WB Hwy 55 between Theodore Wirth Pkwy. and Schaper Rd. is now open.
  • Beginning Fri, Oct. 5, Hwy 55 from Wisconsin Ave. in Plymouth to Greenfield will reopen.

Hwy 55 in Rosemount

  • WB Hwy 55 is closed between Fischer Ave. and west of County Rd. 42 (145th St.) through mid-November.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • Watch for single lane closures in both directions of Hwy 62 during the day and overnight from I-494 to Hwy 100 through Sat, Oct. 14.

    I-94 East Metro (Woodbury to St. Paul)

    • Beginning Thu, Oct. 4, the right lane on NB Hwy 120 between I-94 and Hudson Blvd. is closed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Fri, Oct. 5.

    Hwy 149/High Bridge (St. Paul to Mendota Heights)

    • Beginning 6 a.m. Sat, Oct. 6, Dodd Rd./Hwy 149 near Creek Ave. will be closed for storm sewer installation through 6 p.m.
    • SB Detour: WB Hwy 110 to SB Lexington Ave. S. to EB Mendota Heights Rd.
    • NB Detour: WB Mendota Heights Rd. to NB Lexington Ave. S. to EB Hwy 110

      I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

      • Beginning Mon, Oct. 1, the ramp from EB I-494 to East Bush Lake Rd. will be closed through Tue, Oct. 16.

        Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 in Minneapolis

        • Beginning Mon, Oct. 8, work will begin on the intersection at University Ave. and Broadway Ave. through early November. Expect lane closures and delays.

          Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

          • Accesses to local streets may be closed temporarily through mid-October.

          Hwy 8 Forest Lake and Taylors Falls

          • Watch for intermittent, off-peak lane closures on Hwy 8 between Hwy 61 in Forest Lake and just north of 275th St. in Chisago City through Wed, Oct. 31.
          • Drainage repair continues on Hwy 8 between Hwy 61 in Forest Lake and just north of 275th St. in Chisago City in Chisago and Washington Counties through Oct. 31, 2018. Expect intermittent lane closures during project work.
          • Note: Local access to businesses and homes within the project area will be maintained during both project closures

          35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

          • The access to downtown (11th St./5th Ave. S/E. Grant St.) from NB I-35W is closed through mid- to late Oct. 2018 and the access out of downtown (from 12th St./4th Ave.) to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021. Routes into and out of downtown.
          • WB I-94 is reduced to two lanes from Chicago Ave. to Nicollet Ave. through mid-October. SB I-35W is reduced to two lanes from downtown Minneapolis to 43rd St. through fall 2019. NB I-35W is reduced to three lanes from 43rd St. to downtown Minneapolis through fall 2021. View map of all lane closures.
          • The following ramps are closed: EB I-94 to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021; NB I-35W to WB I-94 is closed through fall 2021; SB I-35W to 35th St. is closed through fall 2020; EB I-94 to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021.
          • The following bridges are closed: 26th St. bridge over I-35W through late Oct./early Nov. 2018; 24th St. pedestrian bridge over I-35W until fall 2021; 40th St. bridge over I-35W is closed to pedestrians and bicyclists through fall 2020.
          • Crews will be working 24-hours, seven-days a week between 24th St. N. and I-94 through October. Expect construction noise and lights.
          • There are several other road, lane, ramp and local street closures.

          I-35 in Harris

          • I-35 in both directions will have off-peak daytime lane closures between Harris and the Chisago/Pine County line through fall.

          I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

          • SB I-35 is reduced to two lanes separated by a concrete barrier between Hwy 8 and Hwy 97 through fall. 
          • The Forest Lake Rest Area from SB I-35 also is closed during this project work.

          I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

          • NB/SB I-35W is reduced by one lane between 4th St. and Co. Rd. C through Fri, Oct. 12, when weekend closures are not occurring.
          • The following ramps to/from NB I-35W will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mon. through Fri. through Fri, Oct. 12 (these ramps will not be closed consecutively): 4th St. SE, SE 11th St., Johnson St/New Brighton Blvd/Stinson Blvd., Industrial Blvd.

          I-35W Minnesota River Bridge - Burnsville to Bloomington

          • I-35W will have alternating lane closures in both directions between Cliff Rd. in Burnsville and 106th St. in Bloomington daily. After 10 p.m. each night I-35W may be reduced to a single lane through 5 a.m. the following day. These nightly lane closures will occur through mid-November.

          I-35W Roseville to Blaine/Lino Lakes

          • I-35W in both directions will have off-peak night time lane closures between Mounds View and Blaine/Lino Lakes through fall 2018.

          Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

          • The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.
          • Traffic has been transferred to the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge to the south in Oak Park Heights.

          Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 in Minneapolis

          • Crews are replacing sidewalks, signals and making accessibility improvements on four intersections along Central Ave. (Hwy 65) and University Ave. (Hwy 47) in Minneapolis. Crews will work on one corner at a time and move around the intersection until work is complete at all corners. Motorists should expect short-term closures and some delays.

          Hwy 55 Minneapolis to Rockford

          • Watch for short-term lane closures through fall 2018.

          Hwy 65 in Fridley

          • Access from the West Service Drive on Hwy 65 to 63rd Ave. is closed through late October. Traffic is restricted to a single southbound lane on the West Service Drive. NB traffic is detoured. The sidewalk is closed on the north side of W. Moore Lake Dr. Pedestrians can cross to the sidewalk on the south side of the road.

          Hwy 65 Ham Lake to East Bethel

          • The center median of Hwy 65 is closed at 157th Ave. and 157th Ave. is closed at Hwy 65 on the west side of the highway. Right turns only allowed from Hwy 65 and 157th Ave. through late October. Follow signed detour.
          • The center median at Hwy 65 is closed at 187th Ln. until late October. Northbound traffic will continue north on Hwy 65 and use the newly constructed median crossover to travel south on Hwy 65 to reach 187th Ln. Southbound traffic will continue south to 181st Ave./Baltimore St. to reach 187th Ln. The new southbound median crossover is under construction.
          • Work at the intersection of Hwy 65 and 187th Ave. will continue through fall. 
          • Work is underway on left turn lane extensions at the following locations: 147th Ave/Andover Blvd. (NB); Constance Blvd/Co. Rd. 60 (NB); Crosstown Blvd/Co. Rd. 18 (NB/SB); Sims Rd/Co. Rd. 86 (NB/SB). During the work, motorists will encounter temporary shoulder closures and lane closures as well as short-term closures at cross streets.

          I-94 East Metro (Woodbury to St. Paul)

          • All major road construction is complete. However, crews are finishing up several minor wrap-up items over the next few weeks. Work is expected to be complete by the end of fall 2018.

          Hwy 95/Manning Ave. Woodbury to Denmark Twp.

          • Permanent striping and other final touches will continue next week. This work will be done under traffic with flaggers directing motorists through the work zone. Work is to be complete in mid-October. Primary Detour: 70th St, Woodbury Dr. (Co. Rd. 19), Bailey Rd.

          Hwy 149/High Bridge (St. Paul to Mendota Heights)

          • The Hwy 149 High Bridge is closed through December 2018. Primary Detour: Annapolis St. to Robert St to Kellogg Blvd to West 7th St. to Smith Ave/Hwy 149
          • Dodd Rd./Hwy 149 is closed from Mendota Heights Rd. to Hwy 110 through late October.
          • An Xcel Energy project is underway along Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. Motorists should anticipate the following traffic impact due to project work: Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. at Delaware Ave. is closed to relocate the gas main through early October.
          • There are several other road, lane and trail/sidewalk closures.

          Hwy 169 in Belle Plaine, Jordan

          • Hwy 169 is a single lane with motorists traveling on their own side of Hwy 169 south of Hwy 282 in Jordan to north of Hwy 25 in Belle Plaine (weather permitting) through early October. There will still be no left turns in this area. Business Detour Map.
          • NB Hwy 169 from Hwy 19 in Blakely Township to Hwy 25 in Belle Plaine is a single lane through early October.
          • SB Hwy 169 from south of Hwy 25 to Hwy 19 in Blakely Township is open and left turns are allowed.
          • Note: The access to Meridian St. will remain closed with the detour posted at Hwy 25.

          Hwy 169 in Champlin

          • Watch for temporary non-peak lane closures on NB and SB Hwy 169 from the Mississippi river to Hwy 610 through mid-October.

          I-494 East Bush Lake Road

          • The ramp from EB I-494 to East Bush Lake Rd. will be closed through Tue, Oct. 16.
          • The ramp from East Bush Lake Rd. to EB I-494 will be closed through Sun, Oct. 14. Detour: Industrial Blvd. to Hwy 100.

          I-494 Inver Grove Heights and South St. Paul

          • The ramp from WB I-494 to 5th Ave. is closed through mid-October. 
          • Detour: WB I-494 to Hwy 52 ramps
          • Concord St. is a single lane between the I-494 ramps through spring 2019.

          Hwy 610 in Maple Grove

          • Traffic is reduced to a single lane on EB Hwy 610 between I-94 and Elm Creek Blvd. until late October.

          Metro Wide Overhead Signing

          • MnDOT will be updating and replacing overhead signs above specific highways and interstates in five counties through mid-October.
