Metro area weekend traffic impacts map: June 15-17

Please make sure to plan ahead and know your route before your travels this weekend and slow down in work zones.

These traffic impacts are new as of this weekend.

Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

  • Access to Texas Ave. from Hwy 7 will be closed through Wed, June 20
  • From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fri, June 15, the left lanes of EB and WB Hwy 7 are closed from I-494 to Shady Oak Rd. and the right turn lanes from EB Hwy 7 to Hwy 169 and to Texas Ave. are closed.

I-35W and Co. Rd. I in Arden Hills

  • The ramp from NB I-35W to Co. Rd. I and the roundabout on Co. Rd. I are now closed through late June

Hwy 62 in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 9 p.m. Fri, June 15, the ramp from NB Hwy 100 to EB Hwy 62 and the right lane of EB Hwy 62 after the Hwy 100 exit ramp will be closed until 10 a.m. Sat, June 16

I-94 in Minneapolis at the Mississippi River

  • Butler Pl. from 23rd Ave. to 25th Ave. is closed through Thu, June 21

I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center

  • The following ramps are now open:
  • EB I-394 to WB I-94
  • NB Lyndale Ave to WB I-94
  • WB I-94 to Hwy 55

Hwy 149 High Bridge in St. Paul

  • Xcel Energy has a gas line project that will have temporary road and intersection closures along Hwy 149 between I-494 and the High Bridge through October. Currently, Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. is closed from Marie Ave. to Wentworth Ave. through late June and from Wentworth Ave. to Delaware Ave. through late July. Learn more about this project, including details on traffic impacts.
  • Beginning 9 p.m. Fri, June 15, Hwy 149 from Hwy 110 to Wentworth Ave. will be closed until 6 a.m. Mon, June 18. This will be in addition to the section of Hwy 149 that will be closed due to an Xcel Energy project.

Hwy 169 in Champlin

  • Dayton Rd west of Hwy 169 opens Friday evening, June 15

Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

  • From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mon, June 18, the left lanes of EB and WB Hwy 7 are closed from I-494 to Shady Oak Rd.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 5 a.m. Mon, June 18, both directions of I-35W will be reduced to three lanes from 43rd St. to downtown Minneapolis through fall 2021.
  • Beginning 5 a.m. Mon, June 18, WB I-94 will be reduced to two lanes from Chicago Ave. to Nicollet Ave. through fall 2018

Hwy 50 in Farmington

  • Beginning Mon, June 18, the Co. Rd. 81 intersection at Hwy 50 will close through Wed, June 27

  • Beginning Mon, June 18, the ramp from 25th Ave. to WB I-94 will be closed through mid-July

Hwy 169 in Champlin

  • Beginning Mon, June 18, Hayden Lake Rd. closes west of Hwy 169. Follow the signed detour.

        These projects have already begun and continue to have traffic impacts. 

        Hwy 3 in Inver Grove Heights

        • Hwy 3 will be closed between Hwy 149 and Hwy 55 through fall 2018.

        Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

        • The free right turn lane from Fifth Ave. N in Hopkins to Hwy 7 is now closed through August. Motorists should go to the light and turn right.
        • Watch for lane closures on Hwy 7 and to accesses to local streets through September

        I-35 in Elko New Market

        • I-35 in Elko New Market has lanes narrowed to 11 feet through June 30.
        • The Co. Rd. 2 bridge over I-35 is reduced to one lane one direction traffic at a time controlled by signal systems placed at each end of the bridge through June.

        I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

        • NB I-35 is reduced to two lanes and separated with concrete barriers between Hwy 97 and Hwy 8 until early August.
        • SB I-35 will periodically be reduced to two lanes near Hwy 8 in Forest Lake through late August.

          Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

          • The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.
          • Traffic has been transferred to the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge to the south in Oak Park Heights.

          Hwy 41 in Chaska

          • Hwy 41 is closed between Hundertmark Rd. and Pioneer Trl. through early September
          • Primary Detour: Hwy 212, Powers Blvd, Lyman Blvd.

          Hwy 50 in Farmington

          • Hwy 50 is reduced to a single lane with flaggers in both directions through late August.
          • The Co. Rd. 80 intersection at Hwy 50 is closed through late August

          I-94 East Metro (Woodbury to St. Paul)

          • All eastbound and westbound I-94 permanent lane and ramp striping is complete! There will be one more ramp closure coming in late June.

          I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center

          • The Whitney pedestrian bridge (connecting Loring Park to Walker Art Center/Sculpture Garden) is closed to walkers and bikers through August.

            Hwy 95/Manning Ave. Woodbury to Denmark Twp.

            • Hwy 95 is closed in both directions from Bailey Rd. to 70th St. through Fri, Sept. 7.
            • Primary Detour: 70th St, Woodbury Dr. (Co. Rd. 19), Bailey Rd.

            Hwy 149 High Bridge in St. Paul

            • The Hwy 149 High Bridge is closed through December 2018. 
            • Primary Detour: Annapolis St. to Robert St to Kellogg Blvd to West 7th St. to Smith Ave/Hwy 149 (PDF)
            • There are several other road, lane and trail/sidewalk closures

            Hwy 169 in Belle Plaine, Jordan

            • Hwy 169 will be a single lane with head to head traffic traveling on the northbound lanes from just south of Hwy 282 to north of Hwy 25 through mid-August. Note: For business access, use Hwy 25. 
            • Hwy 169 will be a single lane with head to head traffic traveling on the southbound lanes from south of Hwy 25 to Hwy 19 through mid-September.

            Hwy 169 in Champlin

            • All traffic on Hwy 169 is shifted to the northbound roadway with a single lane in each direction between Hwy 610 and the Mississippi River through mid-July
            • The Southbound Elm Creek Bridge over the Mississippi River is closed through mid-July
            • The ramp from WB Hwy 610 to NB Hwy 169 will be closed through late September
            • The intersections of 109th and 117th Avenues are closed at Hwy 169 through mid-June
