Metro area weekend traffic impacts map: May 11-13

Please make sure to plan ahead and know your route before your travels this weekend, as it is the State's fishing opener on Sat, May 12 and Mother's Day on Sun, May 13. And please slow down in work zones.

New this weekend

These traffic impacts are new as of this weekend.

Hwy 3 in Inver Grove Heights

• Beginning Sun, May 13, Hwy 3 will be closed between Co Rd 71/Rich Valley Blvd and Hwy 55 through fall 2018.

Hwy 13 in Prior Lake, Savage

• Beginning 4 a.m. Sat, May 12, both directions of Hwy 13 will be reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers between Co Rd 44 and Franklin Ave. in Prior Lake and Savage until 11:59 p.m. that same day.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

• Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, May 11, WB I-394 will be closed from downtown Minneapolis to Hwy 100 until 5 a.m. Mon, May 14
• Detour from EB I-94: Hwy 55 to Hwy 100 to I-394
• Detour from WB I-94: NB Hwy 280 to I-35W to I-694
• Detour from downtown Minneapolis: Use HOV lane

I-35 in Elko

• I-35 in Elko New Market has lanes narrowed to 11 feet through June 30
• The Co Rd Road 2 bridge over I-35 is reduced to one lane one direction traffic at a time controlled by signal systems placed at each end of the bridge through June

I-35W in Minneapolis

• The left lane of I-35W is closed near 5th Ave. and 6th Ave. ramp to EB I-94. Crews will close the left  lane in one direction, reopen it and then close the left lane in the other direction. Both lanes will be open by 6 a.m. Mon, May 14.

I-35W and 86th St. Bridge in Bloomington

• Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, May 11,  two lanes of NB I-35W will be closed at the 86th St. Bridge until 7 a.m. Sat, May 12
• Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, May 11, two lanes of SB I-35W will be closed at the 86th St. Bridge until 8 a.m. Sat, May 12

Hwy 62 and 34th Ave. Bridge in Minneapolis

• Beginning 8 p.m. Fri, May 11, the right lane of EB Hwy 62 will be closed at the 34th Ave. Bridge and the ramp from EB Hwy 62 to 34th Ave. will be closed until 6 a.m. Mon, May 14

I-94 East Metro (Woodbury to St. Paul)

• Beginning 9 p.m. Fri, May 11, the ramp from WB I-94 to Mounds Blvd. will be closed until 5 a.m. Mon, May 14
• Beginning Sun, May 13, there will be overnight temporary lane and ramp closures throughout the project area through mid-June

I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center

• Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, May 11, both directions of  I-94 will be closed from I-35W to I-394, both directions of Hennepin Ave/Lyndale Ave. will be closed from Dunwoody Blvd to Oak Grove St, and the ramp from Penn Ave. to WB I-394 will be closed. All roads and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Mon, May 14

Hwy 47 in Minneapolis

• 40th Ave. at Hwy 47/University Ave. will reopen on Sat, May 12. Then 37th Ave. at Hwy 47/University Ave. NE will close until Fri, June 12.

I-494 in Bloomington

• Beginning 8 p.m. Fri, May 11, WB I-494 will have lane reductions at East Bush Lake Rd until 5 a.m. Sat, May 12

Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

• Beginning Mon, May 14, watch for lane closures on Hwy 7 and to accesses of local streets between I-494 in Minnetonka and Louisiana Ave. in St. Louis Park through September

I-94 East Metro (Woodbury to St. Paul)

• Beginning Mon, May 14, there will be nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day on EB I-94 between Mounds Blvd. and Hwy 120/Century Ave. through Fri, May 18

Hwy 62 and 34th Ave. Bridge in Minneapolis

• Beginning Mon, May 14, one lane of WB Hwy 62 at the 34th Avenue bridge will be closed until June 15
• Beginning Wed, May 16, the 34th Ave. Bridge will close until Wed, May 23

Existing and ongoing

These projects have already begun and continue to have traffic impacts. No new impacts related to these projects are beginning this weekend.

Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

• The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.
• Traffic has been transferred to the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge to the south in Oak Park Heights

I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

• NB I-35 is reduced to two lanes between Hwy 97 and Hwy 8 through early August, Note: Ramps at Hwy 97 and Broadway Ave. remain open.
• SB I-35 is open to three lanes, however, will be periodically reduced to two lanes near Hwy 8. There will not be any lane closures on SB I-35 between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Hwy 50 in Farmington

• Hwy 50 is reduced to a single lane with flaggers in both directions through late August

Hwy 61 at 15th St. in Hastings

• NB Hwy 61 will be reduced to a single lane through mid-May

Hwy 95/Manning Ave. Woodbury to Denmark Twp

• Hwy 95 from Bailey Rd. to 70th St. will have periodic lane closures through May.
• Note: You may also see daily shoulder closures and encounter flaggers in the work zone.

• Hwy 95 will have single lane traffic on weekdays controlled by flaggers between Hwy 36 and Nelson St. in Stillwater from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through mid-May

Hwy 149 High Bridge in St. Paul

• The Hwy 149 High Bridge is closed through December 2018
• Primary Detour: Annapolis St. to Robert St to Kellogg Blvd to West 7th St. to Smith Ave/Hwy 149 (PDF)

Hwy 169 in Belle Plaine, Jordan

• Hwy 169 will be a single lane with head to head traffic traveling on the northbound lanes from just south of Hwy 282 to north of Hwy 25 through mid-August. Note: For business access, use Hwy 25.
• Hwy 169 will be a single lane with head to head traffic traveling on the southbound lanes from south of Hwy 25 to Hwy 19 through mid-September

Hwy 169 in Champlin

• All traffic on Hwy 169 is shifted to the northbound roadway with a single lane in each direction between Hwy 610 and the Mississippi River through mid-July.
• The Southbound Elm Creek Bridge over the Mississippi River is closed through mid-July
• The ramp from WB Hwy 610 to NB Hwy 169 will be closed through late September
