Metro area weekend traffic impacts: August 4-6

As you prepare for travel this weekend, here are the projects across the Metro area. Plan ahead and know your route.

Hwy 13 in Burnsville, Savage

• Beginning Fri, Aug. 4 through Mon, Aug. 7, EB Hwy 13 will have alternating lane closures between Co Rd 5 and Dakota Ave.

Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

• The Hwy 36 Stillwater lift bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.

Hwy 51/Snelling Ave. St. Paul to Roseville

• From 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fri, Aug. 4 the ramp from NB Hwy 51 to EB Hwy 36 will be closed

I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center

• Early Fri, Aug. 4, traffic on I-94 at the Lowry Tunnel will shift to the westbound side until mid-September. Drivers will see two lanes in each direction with a concrete barrier in the middle. Note: The speed limit is 40 mph. Trucks and buses weighing more than 9,000 pounds are prohibited in the tunnel.

I-94 St. Paul to Maplewood

• Beginning 9 p.m. Mon, Aug. 7 through 5 a.m. Tue, Aug. 8, the right lane (local access lane) and all entrance/exit ramps on EB I-94 between Mounds Blvd. and Hwy 120/Century Ave. will be closed

Hwy 95 at the St. Croix Crossing

• The new St. Croix Crossing bridge between Oak Park Heights, MN and St. Joseph, WI is now open to traffic.

Hwy 110 in Mendota Heights

• Beginning Sun, Aug. 6, crews will open EB Hwy 110 between I-35E and I-494. This will also include the opening of the loop ramp from Hwy 3/Robert St. to EB I-494

Hwy 169 Edina to Golden Valley

• Beginning 7 p.m. Fri, Aug. 4 to Noon Sat, Aug. 5, NB Hwy 169 will be closed from Hwy 7 to Hwy 55. Then beginning Noon Sat, Aug. 5 to 5 a.m. Mon, Aug. 7, SB Hwy 169 will be closed from Hwy 55 to Hwy 7.
• From 10 p.m. Fri, Aug. 4 to 1 a.m. Sat, Aug. 5, the ramps from Cedar Lake Rd to SB Hwy 169 and from SB Hwy 169 to SB Cedar Lake Rd will be closed
• From 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sat, Aug. 5, the ramps from Betty Crocker Dr. to SB Hwy 169 and from SB Hwy 169 to Betty Crocker Dr. will be closed

Hwy 110 in Mendota Heights

• Beginning Mon, Aug. 7, WB Hwy 110 will close between I-494 and I-35E

Hwy 3 in Castle Rock

• Hwy 3 is closed at the intersection of Co Rd 86 through Sept. 24

Hwy 5 in Waconia

• Hwy 5 is closed at Orchard Rd through mid-August

Hwy 10 at I-35W in Arden Hills

• The ramp from westbound Hwy 10 to northbound I-35W is closed through late-August. 
• Detour: West on I-694 to reach NB I-35W

I-35E bridges in St. Paul

• I-35E will be have two lanes of traffic open in each direction through Sept. 22
• Shepard Rd. beneath I-35E will be a single lane in each direction through Sept. 22

I-35E in Vadnais Heights

• Intermittent lane closures may be required on I-35E between Hwy 96 and Co Rd J through summer 2017
• WB Hwy 96 between Centerville Rd and White Bear Pkwy will be reduced to a single lane through the end of August

I-35W and Co Rd I in Arden Hills, Shoreview

• The ramp from NB I-35W to Co Rd I is closed through early-September
• Detour: Co Rd 10/Mounds View Blvd. to Co Rd I
• The loop from Co Rd I to NB I-35W is closed permanently
• Detour: Rice Creek Pkwy to Co Rd J/85th Ave. NE to Airport Road to EB Hwy 10 to NB I-35W

86th St. bridge over I-35W in Bloomington

• The 86th St. bridge over I-35W is closed through October

Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 in Minneapolis

• Access to the east side and west side of 20th Ave. from Central Ave. is closed through Aug. 21.
• The southwest quads of First and Second Streets S at Third Ave (Hwy 65) are under construction
• Access to and from 14th Ave. and Central Ave. on both sides of the road are closed

Hwy 52 in Coates

• Hwy 52 will have lane closures in both directions south of Coates between 170th St. and Co Rd 86/280th St in Randolph Township through November

Co Rd 42 at Hwy 52 in Rosemount

• Hwy 52 between the ramps at Co Rd 42 is closed until fall to reconstruct the bridges over Co Rd 42.
• Traffic on Hwy 52 will be maintained using the ramps at Co Rd 42 as bypasses. Right turns to/from Co Road 42 will be allowed. No left turns will be permitted.

Hwy 95 Woodbury to Afton

• SB Hwy 95 will be closed from just north of 22nd St. in Woodbury to south of 15th St. in Afton through late-fall

Hwy 169 in Plymouth

• The ramp from Medicine Lake Rd to SB Hwy 169 is closed through mid-August
• Medicine Lake Ln and Lancaster Ln remain closed to through traffic through mid-August

I-694 Little Canada to Arden Hills

• EB I-694 is restricted to two lanes separated by a concrete median barrier between Hwy 10 and I-35E. The inside lane carries through traffic and must continue east on I-694. The outside lane allows local ramp access and must continue south on I-35E. This will last through November.
• WB I-694 is reduced to two lanes through October
• The ramps from EB I-694 to Rice St. and from Rice St. to EB I-694 are closed through late August. The ramp from Rice St to WB I-694 is closed for the duration of project work
