Metro area weekend traffic impacts: June 30-July 4

Happy Fourth of July weekend! As you celebrate the nation's independence day, take a holiday from weekend road construction on state highways!

No new traffic impacts will start this weekend, however, existing traffic impacts will remain, which include two that began this past week (indicated on the map). So if you are hitting the road this weekend, make sure to plan ahead and know your route. And please slowdown in construction zones, we want everyone to make it safely to their Fourth of July festivities.

You will note that there are upcoming traffic impacts marked on this weekend's map, they do not begin until Wed, July 5. Existing and ongoing traffic impacts are also marked on the map and details are provided below.

New this weekend

These traffic impacts are new as of this weekend.

I-94 St. Paul to Maplewood

  • All WB I-94 lane resurfacing between St. Paul and Maplewood has been completed. EB I-94 is now set-up in a new configuration, with at least one thru lane and one local access lane through fall.
  • Through Sat, July 1, NB and SB McKnight Rd. will be reduced to a single lane between Burns Ave. and the Sun Ray Lanes bowling alley

      These traffic impacts will begin early next week.

      These traffic impacts are ongoing and will continue through this weekend.

      I-35E bridges in St. Paul

      I-35E in Vadnais Heights

      • Crews will continue to work, away from traffic, on the noise walls and on the overhead MnPASS signs and toll readers. Intermittent lane closures may be required on I-35E between Hwy 96 and Co Rd J through summer 2017.
      • WB Hwy 96 between Centerville Rd and White Bear Pkwy will be reduced to a single lane through the end of August

      Hwy 10 at I-35W in Arden Hills

      I-35W and Co Rd I in Arden Hills, Shoreview

      • The ramp from NB I-35W to Co Rd I is closed through early-September
      • Detour: Co Rd 10/Mounds View Blvd. to Co Rd I
      • The loop from Co Rd I to NB I-35W is closed permanently
      • Detour: Rice Creek Pkwy to Co Rd J/85th Ave. NE to Airport Road to EB Hwy 10 to NB I-35W

      86th St. bridge over I-35W in bloomington

      Hwy 51/Snelling Ave. St. Paul to Roseville

      Co Rd 42 at Hwy 52 in Rosemount

      Hwy 95 at St. Croix Crossing

      I-694 Little Canada to Arden Hills

      • Eastbound I-694 is restricted to two lanes separated by a concrete median barrier between Hwy 10 and I-35E. The inside lane carries through traffic and must continue east on I-694. The outside lane allows local ramp access and must continue south on I-35E. This will last through November.
      • Westbound I-694 is reduced to two lanes through October.
      • The ramps between EB I-694 and Lexington Ave. will be closed through early-July. And the ramp from Rice St to westbound I-694 is now closed for the duration of project work
