MnDOT Civil Rights-connecting small businesses to big opportunities!

On March 27, 2017, MnDOT Office of Civil Rights hosted a networking event for the upcoming $265 million dollar I-35W/Lake Street project at the Colin Powell Center in Minneapolis. More than 90 small businesses and 11 general contractors attended to learn and connect with colleagues in the construction industry. The event provided an opportunity for small businesses to promote their services with metro area prime contractors who are interested in bidding on this and other projects.

Attendees learned about:

  • MnDOT Equal Employment Opportunity program and workforce goals
  • MnDOT On-the-Job Training program and project requirements
  • Disadvantaged Business Enterprise opportunities and requirements
  • MnDOT business development assistance for small businesses including:

    -Mentor/Protégé opportunities
    -Business skills courses
    -One-on-one seminars and targeted training
    -Technical assistance with technology requirements
