The Hwy 169 bridge closure is
being pushed back one week. Snow, expected Monday through Wednesday, would
create a safety issue for setting up the traffic control and pavement markings.
The Nine Mile Creek Bridge on
Hwy 169 between Bren Rd. in Minnetonka and 7th St. (5th
St. – Lincoln Dr. exit) in Edina will be closed both directions starting at 3 a.m. Tue, Jan. 17. The associated
northbound and southbound ramps going towards the bridge will also be closed. Crews
will begin setting up traffic cones and barriers Monday night.
Starting Tue, Jan. 17, southbound
Hwy 169 from Excelsior Blvd. to 7th St. and northbound Hwy 169 from
Hwy 62 to Bren Rd will also be reduced to one lane. The exit ramp from westbound
I-394 to southbound Hwy 169 will also be closed for the duration of the project
to encourage non-local southbound traffic to take the detour routes and to
eliminate associated safety concerns.
The project website has a map of the Hwy 169 road and ramp
closures.
Motorists are advised to
follow the detours to bypass the closure:
-
Northbound detour: Eastbound Hwy 62, Northbound Hwy 100, Westbound I-394 to Hwy 169
-
Southbound detour: Westbound I-394, Southbound I-494 to Hwy 169
The bridge closure and lane
reductions are necessary as crews remove and replace the Nine Mile Creek Bridge.
The work is expected to last into October 2017, weather permitting.
