Metro area weekend traffic impacts (June 17-19)

Our weekend traffic impacts map highlights new traffic impacts for the upcoming weekend. Existing and ongoing traffic impacts are also marked on the map and details are provided below.

Metro area weekend traffic impacts June 17-19

New traffic impacts this weekend

Hwy 3 Farmington 

Hwy 3 will be a single lane in each direction between Hwy 50 and 209th St in Farmington through October. 

I-35 near Northfield 

I-35 alternating lane closures with possible backups between Co. Rd 2 in Elko/New Market and Hwy 19 near Northfield for bridge painting through July 11. 

I-35E in St. Paul 

I-35E in St. Paul will completely close in both directions between I-94 and Shepard Rd from Friday, June 17 at 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday, June 20. 

I-35E in White Bear Lake and Vadnais Heights 

From 9 p.m. Friday, June 17 through 5 a.m. Monday June 20, both directions of I-35E between Co Rd 14 and Co Rd E will close. Follow the posted detour using I-35W. Hwy 96 bridge between Centerville Rd and White Bear Pkwy will also close. There are also several ramps closed. 

Hwy 52 in St. Paul 

Ramp from Hwy 52 to eastbound I-94 closed. 

Hwy 100 in St. Louis Park 

At 10 p.m. Friday, June 17, northbound Hwy 100 between Hwy 62 and I-394 will close. Crews will begin closing the ramps at 9 p.m., Friday, June 17. The highway will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 20.


Existing/ongoing traffic impacts

These are ongoing traffic impacts that will continue to impact your commute this weekend.

Hwy 5 Chanhassen

Continuing this weekend, right turns to eastbound Hwy 5 from Market Blvd and Dakota Ave will be closed and detoured through July 30.

Hwy 5 in St. Paul

Hwy 5 between Davern St in St. Paul and Hwy 55 will be reduced to one lane in each direction through November 2016. Several ramps closed, too.

Hwy 7 over Hwy 100 in St. Louis Park

Hwy 7 between Wooddale Ave and the Beltline is closed until November 2016. Hwy 100 between 36th St and north of Hwy 7 bridge is two lanes of traffic in each direction, on the southbound side of Hwy 100. There are several ramps closed, too.

Hwy 8 in Taylors Falls 

Hwy 8 closed in both directions between the south and north intersections of Hwy 95 in Franconia/Shafer Townships and Taylors Falls until October. 

I-35E bridges in St. Paul, south of I-94

The St. Clair Ave bridge is closed through late-July. The ramp from southbound I-35E to St. Clair ramp is also closed through July 31.

I-35E in St. Paul, north of I-94

University Ave ramp to southbound I-35E/westbound I-94 closed through late-June. The I-35E ramps at Phalen Blvd/Pennsylvania Ave are permanently closed.

I-35W in Minneapolis 

Eastbound E. Hennepin Ave, westbound Broadway St and southbound Johnson St over I-35W in northeast Minneapolis are closed through late-June.

I-35W in New Brighton

The ramps between northbound I-35W and County Rd E2 on the east side of the interstate are closed through mid-June. The County Rd E2 bridge spanning I-35W is closed through mid-August.

I-35W in Arden Hills

County Rd H and County Rd 10 are closed between I-35W and County Rd H. The ramps from County Rd H to NB and southbound I-35W are closed through late fall and the ramp from southbound I-35W is detoured on a bypass to reach County Rd 10.

Hwy 36 in Roseville

Hwy 36 traffic is shifted onto the new bypass south of the existing Hwy 36 Lexington Ave bridge for construction of two new Hwy 36 bridges. Continuing this weekend: Lexington Ave at Hwy 36 closed through mid-September. Ramps at eastbound and westbound Hwy 36 and Lexington Ave and from Dale St to westbound Hwy 36 closed through mid-September.

Hwy 61 & Hwy 97 in Forest Lake

Access from eastbound Hwy 97 from Hwy 61 is closed through the remainder of the summer. Continuing this weekend: Both directions of Hwy 61 between the north intersection of Hwy 97/Scandia Tr and 202nd St traffic will be reduced to a single lane on the east side of the road through August.

Hwy 77 between Diffley Rd and Hwy 13 in Eagan

The ramp from eastbound Hwy 13 to northbound Hwy 77 is closed through July 19.

I-94 bridges in St. Paul

Prior Ave bridge closed through early August.

I-94 from St. Paul to Maplewood

The left lane of westbound I-94 between Mounds Blvd and Century Ave is permanently closed through early-August. Hwy 61 to westbound I-94 is reduced to a single lane through August. Ramp closures include: Hwy 52 to eastbound I-94, White Bear Ave to westbound I-94, McKnight Rd to eastbound I-94, Hwy 61 to eastbound I-94 and eastbound I-94 to East 7th St.

Hwy 169 in New Hope

Ramp closures through mid-July include: Northbound Hwy 169 to 49th Ave and Rockford Rd to northbound Hwy 169.

Hwy 169 in St. Louis Park

Southbound Hwy 169 entrance ramp from 16th St in St. Louis Park is closed.

Hwy 280 in St. Paul and Lauderdale

Hwy 280 traffic is a single lane in each direction on northbound and southbound Hwy 280 between Broadway St and Como Ave. All ramps open at Larpenteur Ave and Como Ave. Continuing through this weekend: Interchange of Hwy 280 and I-35W closed through mid-July.

I-494 in the west Metro

I-494 between I-94/I-694 in Maple Grove and I-394 in Minnetonka will be shifted to the southbound side of I-494 while crews work on northbound I-494, along with several types of other closures, including ramp and lane closures.

I-694 between Little Canada and Arden Hills

The Lexington Ave ramp to westbound I-694 closed through June 19. Continuing this weekend: Westbound I-694 traffic between I-35E and Lexington Ave is now separated by a concrete barrier; the left lane will carry through traffic with no access to local roads and the right lane will carry traffic with access to local roads through November. The ramp from Rice St to westbound I-694 also is closed through November.
