Two new
MnPASS Express Lanes on I-35E between St. Paul and Little Canada will
open for the first time on Nov. 30, weather permitting. New MnPASS account
enrollment begins today, Nov. 17.
To
celebrate the arrival of the first MnPASS lanes in the east Metro, new and
current MnPASS account holders with a MnPASS transponder or a new
tag can drive in the MnPASS lanes on I-35E
between Cayuga Street and Little Canada Road during peak-travel times for FREE
from Nov. 30 until Jan. 4, 2016.
How to
use the new MnPASS Express Lanes on I-35E
- Weekdays on southbound I-35E between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. and
northbound between 3 and 7 p.m., vehicles with two or more people including
children, public transit and motorcyclists can drive in the MnPASS lanes for
free.
- Solo motorists with a MnPASS account and a transponder or tag can
drive in the lanes during peak-travel times for a fee between $.25 and $8. The
fees from solo motorists are used to pay for capital, operational, maintenance
and corridor improvements.
- Before and after peak-travel times, the MnPASS lanes are open for
all motorists to use.
- Enter and exit the MnPASS lanes only where there are dashed,
double white lines. It is always illegal to cross over solid, double white
lines.
