BOW Fall workshop!

October 4 - 6, 2024, Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, Finland, MN, fee $280. Online registration is open at BOW Fall Workshop registration.

Join us on the spectacular North Shore this fall for our next BOW workshop! Class offerings include charismatic dragonflies, beavers - the rodent that shaped North American, lichens, Superior Hiking Trail hikes, kayaking, North Shore geology, intro to fishing, intro to hunting, firearms basics, car camping, and more! Workshops are a great way for women to learn new skills and meet new people who are also interested in the outdoors. Fee includes two nights lodging, all meals, instruction, equipment and fun!

Women’s Learn to Hunt Pheasant Weekend, August 9 - 11, 2024, Fee $300, Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club, Prior Lake, MN, register by emailing Sandy at SandyBow@gmail.com.

Join the Bird Bustin’ Babes, for a weekend introduction to pheasant hunting. This women-only program will introduce beginning and novice hunters to the basics needed to have a successful experience afield. This is an exciting opportunity for women to experience hands-on, mentored wing shooting clinics, habitat education seminars, dog handling demonstrations, gear and clothing seminars, shotgun, shell selection and more. Participants will be able to take their newfound skills afield at a guided game farm hunt on Sunday, October 6th. Fee includes lodging, food, instruction, game farm hunt and Pheasant Forever membership.

Women’s Pheasant Hunt, September 7, 2024, 1 - 5 PM, Fee $175, Wings North, Pine City, MN, register by emailing Jennifer at jenniep85@gmail.com. 

Join Prois staff Jennifer for an afternoon of pheasant hunting! No experience required. New pheasant hunters welcome! We provide the hunt, guide/dog, and dinner after the hunt. Bring your own gun and ammunition, nontoxic shot only. $50 non-refundable deposit ($125 due Monday, Sept 2nd) required to hold your spot. 

Women's Off-Grid Lifestyle Immersion Experience, August 5 - 8, September 23 - 26, October 21 - 24 or November 11 - 14, Hovland, fee $348 which includes three nights lodging. To register and to see additional summer dates visit Points-Unknown website.

Bring your friends and/or come and meet new friends. You will be immersed in our off-grid wilderness lifestyle with sled dogs. Each month brings a different experience. 

Fall Colors Forest Bathing, October 14, 10 - Noon at Hoksi-la Park, Lake City, MN, fee $20, register by emailing sara.grover@yahoo.com

Find inspiration among the fall colors! Forest bathing, also known as Shinrin-Yoku, is a Japanese mindfulness practice of moving slowly in nature while using one's senses to "soak" in the forest environment. Many wellbeing benefits are associated with forest bathing including lower blood pressure and decreased feelings of loneliness and isolation. This walk will be led by certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, Sara Holger. 

Tundra Swan Field Trip, November 1, 10 am - Noon, Wabasha, MN, fee $5, register by emailing sara.grover@yahoo.com

Each fall, thousands of tundra swans gather along the Mississippi River between Wabasha and Brownsville as they make their fall migration. Join a naturalist to learn about these amazing birds and to observe large congregations of swans, ducks and other waterfowl.

Whether you dream of paddling across Lake Superior in a sea kayak, mastering the art of canoe camping for fur future BWCA trips, or tackling rugged mountain biking trails, there's something for everyone! No experience necessary, and all gear is provided, just bring your sense of adventure and willingness to learn. Programs include learning how to canoe and sea kayak, fish, camp, mountain bike and even archery. Step out of your comfort zone and into the great outdoors with an I Can! program. These webinars are part of the Minnesota Outdoor Skills and Stewardship Series that aims to give participants quick, relevant information on upcoming seasons and events and skills to help enjoy the outdoors.

Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program (BOW)

The BOW program provides hunting, fishing, and non-consumptive outdoor skills classes to women in a safe and supportive environment. BOW works cooperatively with DNR staff, volunteers, and outside agencies to provide opportunities for women to learn skills. BOW is guided by a volunteer steering committee.
