Q: Can I use a broadcast feeder to feed fish off my dock if I'm not fishing?

A: No. It is illegal to deposit fish parts or any other material into waters to attract fish, even if you are not fishing.

  • Eagle questions – Do you want to know the location of eagle pairs or eagle nests? Is it legal for me to set out devices to deter bald eagles? It is legal to leave perch on the ice for eagles to consume? I found a dead eagle and want to report it. Have the eagles on the EagleCam laid an egg yet? Can I use a drone to view eggs in an eagle's nest that is in my backyard?

  • Snowmobile questions – How do I get my collector snowmobile permit signed? Which collector registration should I get for my snowmobile? 
  • Safety certificate and class questions – How do I obtain a duplicate ATV/snowmobile/boater safety card? Can you tell me what my firearms safety number is? What does a firearms safety field day entail? I'm having trouble entering my son's information into the system to self-certify, can you help me?

  • Deer hunting questions – When is the 2023 deer firearms season? What are the rules for using a crossbow during the deer hunting season? Can you give me the registration number for the deer I harvested last fall? Can I use a drone to recover a deer I shot? 
  • Fishing license questions – I just bought an annual fishing license; can I get a refund since it expires at the end of February? Can I buy a fishing license online? When can I buy a 2023 fishing license and when will it be valid? I have a disability; how do I get a free fishing license? How do I get a duplicate fishing license?
  • Spring turkey hunting questions – Can I use a motorized decoy while turkey hunting? Can I use a drone to scout for turkeys? Can I hunt both firearms and archery in the spring season? Can I use a non-motorized device to move my turkey decoy? Do I need to enter the lottery to get a turkey license?  How do we apply as a group to turkey hunt? 
  • Snowmobile registration questions – What information is needed to register a snowmobile in MN? I found an abandoned snowmobile; can you tell me who owns it? I haven't received my snowmobile renewal registration decals yet; when will they arrive? Do I need to pay a tax on my snowmobile? If I changed my snowmobile chassis, do I use the VIN from the new chassis to register it?  
  • Coyote concerns and questions – I just saw a coyote in this area and thought I should report it. Should I be worried about coyotes in my neighborhood? There is a pack of aggressive coyotes in this area; can you look into this? 
  • Coyote hunting questions – Can I use a rifle to hunt coyotes? Do I need a license to hunt coyotes? Can I hunt coyotes year-round with thermal imaging? Are there firearms/ammo restrictions for hunting coyotes?

  • Burning permit questions – I'm having trouble getting a burning permit online; can you help me? Is a burning permit required in this county today? Can someone come out and do a prescribed burn?

  • Park pass questions – How can I get a free disabled veteran's park pass? I haven't received a park pass I ordered; when will it arrive?
