Walleye fishing for beginners  webinar with Nancy Koep

May 18, Noon - 1 p.m., free webinar. Register at Outdoor Skills and Stewardship Series.

Join pro-angler and bait shop owner Nancy Koep as she covers the basics of walleye fishing during this free webinar. Nancy will provide great tips on how and where to fish for Minnesota's state fish.

Whitewater State Park

Morel Mushroom Hunting, May 7, Noon - 2 p.m., free. Register before May 5th by calling 507-312-2301 or emailing sara.holger@state.mn.us.

It’s springtime and morels, Minnesota’s state mushroom, should be popping up! On this easy walk, Sara Holger, will point out what to look for and how to practice responsible foraging techniques. Participants will learn how to minimize the negative impacts of mushroom hunting. Space is limited.


Three Rivers Park District Classes

Women’s Archery, Sunday, May 1, 10 a.m. - Noon, Carver Park Reserve, fee $10  register by calling Three Rivers Parks at 763-559-6700.

Learn the basics of archery in this class. Participate in challenges and meet others who are exploring archery. All equipment provided. Reservations required by two days prior. Ages 14+. Participants ages 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. 

Flatwater Canoe Essentials for Women, Tuesday, May 10, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., Fish Lake Regional Park, fee $25, register by calling Three Rivers Parks at 763-559-6700.

Learn beginning canoeing safety, proper paddling form, and paddle strokes while surrounded by the beauty of the park. Equipment provided. Ages 14+. Participants ages 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Outdoor Skills Workshops for Women: Tarps & Knots, Sunday, May 15, 10 a.m. - Noon, French Regional Park, fee $10, register by calling Three Rivers Parks at 763-559-6700.

Learn the fundamentals of setting up tarps for camping and backpacking. This hands-on class is great for beginners and those looking to refresh or expand their skills. Equipment provided. Ages 14+. Participants ages 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Flatwater Kayak Essentials for Women, Tuesday, May 24, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., Fish Lake Regional Park, fee $50, register by calling Three Rivers Parks at 763-559-6700.

Learn beginning kayaking safety, proper paddling form, and paddle strokes while surrounded by the beauty of the park. Equipment provided.  Ages 14+. Participants ages 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.


Free Family Webinars

These webinars are part of the Minnesota Outdoor Skills and Stewardship Series that aims to give participants quick, relevant information on upcoming seasons and events, and skills to help enjoy the outdoors.

Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program (BOW)

The BOW program provides hunting, fishing, and non-consumptive outdoor skills classes to women in a safe and supportive environment. BOW works cooperatively with DNR staff, volunteers and outside agencies to provide opportunities for women to learn skills. BOW is guided by a volunteer steering committee.
