Kat Norby
AS400 System Programmer/Analyst, Enforcement and Fish & Wildlife Divisions, Central Office, St Paul
Kat Norby is retiring!
After 21+ years with the Minnesota DNR and MNIT, Kat Nordby is retiring from state service.
Brief rundown of her DNR career
Kat’s diverse career with the state has allowed her to work with numerous DNR and MNIT staff, external partners and vendors. She has been the sole administrator and programmer for the AS400, a legacy platform that has housed essential applications and data for:
- Land Records
- Enforcement Safety Training programs
- Map and brochure inventories
- Historic archives and more.
Due to Kat’s care and attention, this platform has reliably served the business needs of multiple divisions for over two decades. Recently, Kat has been documenting systems and helping to migrate data from the AS400 to other IT solutions.
Over the years, Kat has also participated in many special projects for Enforcement, Lands and Minerals, Fish and Wildlife, the License Center and the DNR Information Center. She has put a high value on customer service and has gone above and beyond to make sure that DNR staff had the data and apps they needed to do their jobs.
Plans for the future
Kat will remain very busy with her dog training, home renovations and activities with family and friends in eastern Wisconsin. She also hopes to become more involved in her community with the Chamber of Commerce and training dogs in the community education program.
Fun dog days ahead...
Please send Kat your congratulations on her retirement and outstanding career.
