Grant Funding Available

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is accepting applications for two funding opportunities through the Minnesota Lake Superior Coastal Program.

STAR Grants

The Coastal Program funds projects to protect or enhance Lake Superior resources.  The STAR grants are small ($2,500 - $10,000) and grantees have six months to complete their projects.

Projects must benefit the public.  We cannot fund individuals or projects that benefit private property.

STAR grant applications are due quarterly.  The first deadline is September 1 for projects to start April 1, 2021.

As of August 1, $100,000 is available for STAR grants.

Conference and Training Support

The Coastal Program can help with the costs to host or attend online conferences or training.  Events must enhance coastal management skills for staff, boards, or elected officials.

This is a non-competitive request. You may request up to $4,500 per event and can apply at any time.
